Potty and Dea.
Yes I think some of the houses have gone as when I went there there were only 4 houses.
I have been looking on the censuses but there are no numbers against any of them.
I looked on the 1881 census but they were not living there then.
Being farm workers they do move around ,my father was a farm worker and we moved around.

There are no houses next to Prospect now.

I shall have to keep looking .

Thank you for looking for me.

Yes, I do think that some of them have gone but according to the census address they lived in the end one which was furthest away from the Rising Sun Public House.

If you have taken photo's, you may be able to locate the Pub - it is no longer a pub but you can find an old picture of it here and may be able to recognise it?

In the 1891 there are seven other families given as living in Prospect Place so, either they were big houses or some of them have gone. You could try going backwards and forwards in the censuses for some of the others living there to see if any house numbers are given.

Hi everyone.
I am in need of some more help.
My grandfather Richard J Kelly/Kelley was born 1872/4 South Tawton Devon his father William Kelly b 1844, mother Mary Ann Cooper b 1850 .
1891 census gives them living at Prospect Place , South Tawton, South Zeal.
I was in Devon in Oct and found Prospect Place which a row of 4 houses and I am hoping someone would know which of those houses the family lived in .
1881 census gives their address as 16 Middle Dimson so that is no help.
Each census has a different address.
A cousin has also been looking but he hasn`t had any luck either.
Thank you

Hello Jan
I found Nathaniel( Nathan)Bernard- hayklan married Maidie Marx March 1936,and the 1938/39 Electoral Register shows them living at 56 Highbury Park Flat E ,Islington.
There is 2 children both showing Marx as their mother.
There is a Michael Bernard-hayklan who also died in Bournemouth.
I have been looking at all different sites but no luck with finding Antonia that is why I wrote to you hoping you would have better luck.
Thank you for trying.

Thanks Vicci,
I think the Mrs F A Kelly in Newton Abbot could be the right person ,I can remember going with my mother in the 1950`s to visit someone in Newton Abbot but can`t remember the address or who it was except that there was a cousin there who was called Sadie ,and I have just recently found that Florence Kelly had a daughter Sadie so it seems to tie in .
I go down to Devon to visit friends in Oct/Nov so I will ask them to take me to Newton Abbot to see if that is where I went.
Thank you so much that has been a great help.
Best Wishes
Sheila

Sheila, as far as I know the only way to find the address is to purchase the death cert. You can then check the electoral register for the address to see who else of voting age was living there (the voting age dropped from 21 to 18 in 1970 I think).

Electoral registers are normally kept at the nearest main library and have to be checked in person, or the staff may do so if you request it - there may be a charge.

Hi Vicci
Thanks for the information,is there any way I can find anything more about the time William was in the Navy ,and when did he leave

JAN
I think the date of birth must be correct but on the 1901 census he is 3 years old that is why I had the date as 1898.
Thank you for finding when he died I hope to find out more about him as my cousins and I know nothing about his life, but do not know where to look ,any ideas please.

Thanks everyone
