I don't see that one Ellie just this one who is too old.

1857 FRASER MARGARET CAMPBELL MACNAIR F 83 CLYDE GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/05 1125

I think that Ann Norra is a corruption of the name Hanora or indeed Helenora or Helena so that is probably why she changed her name to Ellen. Not at all unusal for peole to change their name to something more "normal". My Grandmother was Hanora but until I started this family history lark I had only ever heard her called Norah.

So for some reason Ann Norra Fraser changed her name to Ellen Hamilton, and as she got older wanted to correct things. Not that there is anything wrong with changing your name.

Ann Norra Fraser was not your grandmother - if she had been your grandmother, she would been named on your mother's birth certificate.....and, as you have said yourself, your mother's mother was Ellen Hamilton

Until you get that clear in your own mind, you're not going to get anywhere

ellieathome

ellieathome Report 29 May 2012 21:42

No she hasn't .Ann norra Fraser's 16 JUN 1859 Clyde, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
Ellen Hamilton marrage c1879 states age as 19 -Father John Hamilton ,mother Margaret Tilly.Unless death cert states the same date as ann norra Fraser

Then Margaret was 15 years old when she married John Fraser?

So Ellen Hamilton / Boyd had the same date of birth as Ann Norra Fraser?

Have you found Margaret, Ann Norra or Ellen on the 1861 or 1871 census please?
