That's certainly a possibility Rose. MiL would have been too young to know if they were adopted. |

Perhaps the others were adopted. It seems likely there were some fertility issues seeing as the first child was born 9 years after the marriage. |

I'd consider the possibility that Betty and Sidney were 'adopted' children. If a relative died or was unable to cope their children could be integrated into remaining family. Explore any siblings of Ralph senior and Emily. |
