Suzanne

I've had a look at possible Margaret Dowling's as sister of Deborah and born in Ireland Quite a few listed but so far not found anyone with mn Peelow.

Have looked at Robert G's sisters but none as far as I can see named Margaret who may be married a Dowling. I haven't fouind that family 1861 so Ellen could have had another.

It seems that terrible illness has been around for a very long time and sad that she missed her only child's wedding and that if affected your own mother years later.

Vera.

HI all,

got details of baptism from familysearch.org, so no details of godparents etc.

sad to think that 2 months later deborah's son married having just had to watch his mother die. :-( having lost my own mum when she was 47, it must have been some comfort to deborah to have been at home surrounded by her family.

Just noted Ancestry original has only parents unless of course you have a family record.

Just a thought. You said previously that you had a christening record for William Henry b 18.05.59. bap 22.08.1859 at St Peter's Church, Liverpool.
Does this record list names of godparents/sponsors?

Brilliant news and an extra contact. Not sure about meaning of USD.

I must not forget this is the death of a young woman from cancer but at home with her family present.

Will check thru thread before commenting on Margaret Dowling.

Hello Dea and Vera,

I have to admit i was cynical about ordering the death cert for Jane Rawlinson but you were right!

It has arrived today.

When and Where Died: 20.04.1882 at 5 Alice Street U.S.D (dont know what that means)

Occupation: Wife of Robert Rawlinson a Freight Taker

Cause of Death: Cancer

Informant: Margaret Dowling (sister) present at death 5 Alice Street, West Derby.

OMG.....feel elated. :-D

A new lead with the sisters name. Do you think that would be Roberts sister or Deborah's sister?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Just bumping this up as I need to work on it today !

Suzanne, have you received the cert yet ?

I have heard back from the person I told you about and if the connection is proved (hopefully by that cert), this would be part of her direct family and so she will be able to help you a great deal.

I DO hope it will come back with her husband's name on it BUT I fear that if she was in the Workhouse Infirmary, then it might well have been someone from there who reported her death ???

I hope not !!

Fingers crossed for that its your Jane (Deborah) and that the informant is Robert G. Look forward to hearing the outcome.

Pretty sure only Irish census available are 1901 and 1911 which are incidentally free. Only other records available are Parish and you would have to know county and area. Unfortinately the census only says Ireland.

Hello Vera,

Never found her elsewhere. Perhaps she would be on the ireland census but dont think the irish census are available free online.

Think I will take the plunge and order death cert for jane...think it was her status being widow that put me off.

Thanks for all you help....dont think i would have ever found out the information you have provided me with and at least now i know for sure that Deborah Peelow was the right person.

I will post again when i receive certificate and hopefully can confirm you info.

Thanks again
Suzanne

Hello Suzanne

It was probably that 1881 census not burial.

So on some documents Jane ie Christening record and possibly death registration but on Marriage/Banns and Census Deborah Jane.

Some people did interchange names. Not sure what other added info can be found, except perhaps her birth and possible census prior to 1861. Did you ever see her on any census prior to 1861?

I am warming to that 1881 census for the workhouse being your Jane. The workhouse at that time was being used as an infirmary although it had been built for both purposes. I can't think where else she could be.

Hello Vera

cant find burial of Jane Rawlinson....must have been my imagination...

The jane however does fit with the christening record. It states that William Henry was born on the 18th May 1859 and christened on the 22nd August 1859 at St Peters Church, Liverpool. The parents are listed as Robert Rowlinson and Jane Rowlinson.

Unsure why on his birth cert, on wedding banns and burial record she would be recorded as Deborah and on her death cert as Jane.

I wonder if she was sick and was a patient at the workhouse but then it should say patient not inmate.

I note on the parish burial in the margin there is an amount of 15/- . Not sure what that means and it is the biggest amount recorded on that page. If its some sort of fee or donation does not link with someone from the worhouse unless she was a patient there.
