Well Eileen, we can now confirm that Alice Hawkins Inskip was born 17 Feb 1911 in Poplar (as per George's service records). As I said above my suspicion is that she may be the daughter of Lizzie Inskip b 1893 (daughter of George and Elizabeth Sarah).

You can confirm for definite who her parents were by ordering her birth certificate from GRO http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ It will cost £9.25

The birth details are posted above but here they are again:

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
Name: Alice H Inskip
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1911
Registration district: Poplar
Inferred County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1c

Just a thought - the use of what looks like a surname as a middle name often denotes the father's surname if the parents weren't married.

Hi Eileen who brought your half sister up
after Philip remarried.

Wouldn't have thought George would have lied about having daughter Alice on his military records.

MarieCeleste Report 25 Jul 2012 21:17

Hi Mary - I don't think George "lied" as such, but it wasn't uncommon for parents to state one of their children's children was their own.

The facts are that in the 1911 census George and Elizabeth claimed to have had 8 children, all living and accounted for but Alice wasn't one of them.

His military records are almost as if he forget Fred! Eileen you just need to buy that birth certificate!!!!!

But where was Alice on 2nd April 1911 (if she was Lizzie's daughter)?

Curious

Mary

Mary Report 26 Jul 2012 08:56

Unless they just left her off the census as she was only 2months old and didn't think she counted.

Hi to you all.

I would to thank you all for pointing me in the direction of Alice H Inskip born in Poplar in 1911, the Military Records for George Inskip list Alice H Inskip as one of his dependance, have sent for the B/C which will show who her mother was, will post an update in due course.

Given that you have be of such great help with Alice, I know it is a cheek but could you possible help me one more time.

My Great Uncle Henry William Bradford 10/05/1870 as per his B/C parents are Henry Oaks Bradford and Charlotte Johnson, they died in the early 1880's when my grandfather John Bradford was just 3 years old.

1881 census shows Henry William living with his grandparents William and Maria Johnson? not been able to confirm any other date.

Advice or sugesstions as always very welcome.

Thanks

Eileen

Copied over from "Alice Inskip 1911"

Edit - link removed as thread deleted....there wasn't anything on it to worry about

Eileen 7 Aug 2012 21:13

I would like to say thanks to everyone who pointed me in the direction of Alice H Inskip born 1911 Poplar, she was the lady I was looking for.

Her mother was Elizabeth Florance M Inskip no father listed on B/C, as a result of this info it also came to light that Elizabeth also had a son born in 1915. I am now in contact with his grand-daughter, who has been able to provide some information, but still unable to tell me any about my Half-Sister's Mother Alice> and no trace of death as yet. Elizabeth went on to marry and had 3 more daughters.

Alice and her brother Frederick A inskip where looked after by George and Elizabeth.

Filled in the missing 1891 for my grandfather John, but still no proof of what happend to his older brother Henry William Bradford 1870.

So any more help would be apprechated and once again heartfelt thanks.

Hello Eileen, good to get the update from the birth certificate - do you think Elizabeth Florence was the daughter Lizzie of George and Elizabeth? What was Alice's actual birth date (just curious to compare it to that of the Alice on George's service record).

Eileen

Eileen Report 7 Aug 2012 23:11

Yes Lizzy is the daughter of George and Elizabeth, this is why I was so confused by the parentage of Alice till I received the B/C. George and Elizabeth also took on the care of Frederick A Inskip Lizzy second child.

Hi out there,

Have just watched Mo run the race of his life, well done!!!!!!

Any way to a question about my great uncle Henry William, can anyone look at a marriage in Dec 1887, between a Henry William Bradford and Blanche Josaphine Anderson.

1) it shows father as Charles Bradford Dec'd occupation Organ pipe maker, I know that William Gair was an Organ pipe maker, his wife was a Johnson. my grandfather John was living with them when he was 3 years old, Henry with Grandmother Johnson in 1881, so it sort of makes some sense.

2)Blanche's father was a maker of pianos.

3)married in the Sommers Town which is the correct area!

If it is correct at least I will be able to added it to my tree and close this part of my research.

Thanks

Eileen
