Find Ancestors

Mary Jane is the sister of my g.grandfather - John Thomas Donald. Mary J was born in Llanidloes Montgomeryshire. In 1891 I have found her on a census in Aberdare as a visitor in the Harris household. In 1899 she had a son called Elias John Edward Donald. I have found his baptism record for Twynyrodyn Wenvoe - no father is named.

Elias continues to show up on the 1901 and 1911 census at Twynyrodyn, where he is living with his grandparents, John and Margaret Donald but Mary Jane has disappeared. Family rumour is that she married and went on to have another family but left Elias to be brought up by his grandparents. (I have all info up to death on Elias)

I found a marriage for a Mary Jane Donald in 1901 in Cardiff to Arthur Hill but that Mary Jane was Scottish (found on a 1911 census).

If anyone has any search tips or info on Mary jane I would be really grateful. And thanks all for the help you gave me for Rosina Donald/ Hill/Morgan

There wasn't really any research on there that would be duplicated.

Cheryl - on your Ancestry tree you have her birth as 9 Feb 1876, why do you now say 1874? What was the source of 1876. (Nice photos!)

Oh sorry...been updating tree so much today that I have lost track of which dates belong to who. The date on my ancestry tree is correct - 1976

I've had some info on Mary Jane from my cousin who is a direct decendant from Mary Jane. Unfortunately she doesn't have any info on Mary Jane re- marriage-just family rumours

Just had a look at the 1911 census for Alfred Lane...Mary Jane 10 years too young :-(

I think she must have married in 1901 though - otherwise I should be able to find her on the 1901 census as Mary Jane DONALD.

Found my grandmothers old address book, so looking through there for names that might give a lead...fingers crossed

There's always a chance she may simply be living with someone and is entered in 1901 under his name

Oh I hadn't thought about that! That will make her almost impossible to trace won't it?
