The 1861 census that you have mentioned is for Daniel's uncle John. It was a very large family

Many thanks for that criminal record i didnt have that not sure how the husband will take the news his 2xg grandfather was a criminal hehe

Peculiar as it may seem I think this is them. Husband is a coal porter, same as Daniel 1871.

You can read about this here. He was 20 years old which fits, but he was put away for 6 months so should show in 1861.

Trying to locate a family on the 1861 census

The family i am looking for are the DUKES family.

DANIEL DUKES born 1833 in Lambeth, Surrey
ELLEN DUKES nee GILMORE born Sep 1885 in London, Surrey
MARY ANN DUKES born 1860 in Lambeth, London, England

Daniel and Ellen married 29th July 1860 in Lambeth and Daniels siblings and family are in the area.

Any help would be great
