Reason for setting up GenesReunited FindAncestors Thread is we are trying to find father of Horace Courtenay born Earls Court 1895 & any living relatives.While researching other branches of our family using Ancestry, Find My Past & other internet research has been relatively easy with almost all births,marriages,deaths&census records being available. However, Thrasher, Jezard & Courtenay family have few births, marriages, deaths & census records that can be found on Ancestry, Find My Past or other internet research, (THANK YOU GENES REUNITED RESEARCHERS SINCE THREAD WAS POSTED WE HAVE DISCOVERED THAT ROBERT & PRISCILLA & GRACE & RUTH WERE THRASHERS & PRISCILLA REMARRIED TO JOHN JEZARD - HOWEVER, STILL RECORDS NOT ABLE TO TRACE) so we are hoping that following family groups may belong to your family & that you may be able to help solve this family mystery for us. Horace is living at 78 Hamlet Court Road, Prittlewell, Southend at the Westcliff College For Girls boarding school run by Agnes Shepherd in the 1901 census
Violet Gezard (should be Jezard) is living at 78 Hamlet Court Road, Prittlewell, Southend at the Westcliff College For Girls boarding school run by Agnes Shepherd in the 1901 census
Horace attends Latymer Upper School from 1906 to 1910 & the father listed is Solomon H L Courtenay (which is a combination of his step-father Herbert Lewis Solomon & his blood father H Courtenay)
Horace states on his wedding certificate in 1924 that his father is H Courtenay deceased
There is an old family rumour that Horace Courtenay is the illegitimate son of an Earl

I agree with jax that it is better to pm the poster directly, as they have chosen to publicise their own addresses.
However, some posters do not read their emails for days.
It is against the site's terms and conditions, but surely that is up to genes to censure, not us?
However, thanks to Ivy for acknowledging what she has done, even if I personally think she did not need to.

I would hope, if I was naive enough to put my full home address on an open site like this, that someone would have the sense to get it removed asap for my 'own good' , assuming I did not stick around to do it myself when prompted .

GR can edit out the email address's and phone numbers....but after I asked them to do this after the poster read and ignored my pm (I gave him 48 hours after opening the message)...they removed the post, so it depends who is working tomorrow or even monday as to whether the thread will be reinstated or not

Hi I've had a pm from Lorraine, saying that she cannot see how to edit her reported post.

Jax, is it the case that Lorraine's post will be unavailable to her now until a GR staff member looks at this?

Should I email GR directly and would that speed up the process, or are the boards unmanned all over the weekend?

Once reported nothing can be done until GR decides whether it stays or goes

Gertrude Helen Irene Barnes m Frederick Henry Charles Engelhardt in 1864 (4th q). The marriage took place in the Hastings registration district (Sussex).

They are seen together on the 1871 census in Clapham, Surrey.
They have two small children, several servants.
Gertrude’s age is given as 29, born Cheltenham (i.e. b approx 1842)

They are in Putney in 1881, initials only given, although “Gary Bowtell” has added a note on Ancestry giving the couple’s full names.

She may perhaps be identified with Irene G H Barnes, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Barnes, seen on the 1851 census living in Westminster. Joseph Barnes’ occupation is clerk to the solicitor general.
