Hello again, thanks, I'll bear that in mind. :-)

Marian, don't always expect the exact name of where someone was born to be given on a census return, i.e. Kirkby Fleetham.

We sometimes find that if a village or even small town wasn't well known then the nearest town may be used so in this case it could be Bedale, Northallerton, etc

Just logged on (at work). I've been to the library whereFMP and Ancestry is free and been through all the 1814/1815/1816 age group but none of them say born Kirby Fleetham (also her age for the 1881 census is wrong), there is one at at York, lady's maid but says born York, Yorkshire, who knows, it may be her. Thank you for your help, I'll keep at it over the holidays.
Best wishes for xmas.

Any chance of posting the 1881 for us to look at?

At the moment, we've no firm basis on which to work

You started this thread asking about EMMA..............Elizabeth seems to have materialised from nowhere

Marian Report 20 Dec 2012 23:03

MarieCeleste, I have Elizabeth on all the census apart from 1851 census and would like to know where she was to complete my record for her.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 20 Dec 2012 22:51

Marian, could you clarify what you're actually looking for as you say you have Elizabeth up to the 1881?

Hi, I am still looking for Elizabeth Appleby born Kir(k)by Fleetham, Yorkshire 1814/1815 (parents John and Margaret). On the 1841 census above I have now decided that the Agusto and Eliza Appleby listed are probably mine. Augusta dies 1849 so it is Elizabeth I am stuck on. On all the following census she is at Kell House, Pately Bridge although on the 1881 census her DOB is wrong. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

There is an Elizabeth Appleby on the 1851 census on FMP in the Bedale district, Yorkshire aged 30, born 1821 who I think may be sister to the above Appleby baptisms. Could I have another look up for the usual details. Thanks.

This amended post relates to Augusta Emily and not her sister Emily..I am looking at the index on FMP 1841census which has the following AGUSTO APPLEBY. Age as 21 born 1821 but I know they were rounded up/down. Registration District/Parish as West Derby, County is Lancashire. Could someone please have a look at see if this is Augusta and see where she is and who with. I didn't put in a first name, just surname and ticked variants box, born 1818 with +/- 10 years. No other details and the above came up. Thank you.
