You first need to check her marriage cert to confirm father's name.

Any info from family trees needs verifying.

For instance, it says that Elsie re-married .... but if she died as Lightfoot, I find that confusing.

Also, if you were checking 2 births around the same time, you could have disclosed an idea of DOB

You are right Mike - Elsie should have died with a different surname if she re-married !

I wonder who she married and when?

Is this Elsie's death:-

Name: POOLE, Elsie
Registration district: Whitehaven
County: Cumberland
Year of registration: 1998
Month of registration: May
Date of birth: 26 April 1913
District no: 3851A
Reg no: A40C
Ent no: 097
DOR: 598

There is a corresponding marriage for Elsie Lightfoot to Poole in Whitehaven in 1976. The details of this death are the same as the Elsie Lightfoot entry. I wonder if she was known by both names for some reason.

Stephanie can you tell us if Elsie's death cert is in the name of Lightfoot ?

Stephanie

Stephanie Report 29 Nov 2012 12:46

i have spoken to with my partner this morning and she had never re-married
hope this helps as i have not actually got a death certificate

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 29 Nov 2012 14:02

The two deaths that are registered in the names of Elsie Lightfoot and Elsie Poole must be for the same person as the birth date given on both is the same and the entry numbers are the same.

I think she may have remarried but perhaps the marriage didn't work out or for some other reason the person registering the death thought they had better mention the two names. It is strange because if she was known by both names I would have expected only one entry with the names given something like....."Lightfoot otherwise Poole".

I would think you need to get the death certificate.
