info on the family of Robert Lyon who married Ursula Freeman on 19th July 1658 at Gretton.
it said on the marriage record groom was of Geddington and bride was of Gretton.

trying to work out if this is a 2nd marriage for him and if their were children.

I dont know Robert's birth either, but his father is John Lyon.
and there were many Robert Lyon.

It could be his death buried 22 Apr 1685 Geddington.

I have tried free reg uk, family search and mundia trees.

There is a Robert married Susannah, and I have details of this family. no need to find that again thanks.

this is the family of Robert Lyon and Elizabeth Bates who married 21 Dec 1710 in Cottingham. 2nd Marriage for this man.

his 2nd lot of his children - named after all the grandparents. !

however I have the above daughter Susannah bap 1707 as the child of Robert and his FIRST wife Susannah who died in 1709 Geddington.

So what I THINK am needing to know is of the FATHER of this Robert who married Firstly susannah and secondly Elizabeth.

IS the Father (Robert the son of JOHN) the one who married Ursula Freeman ? and maybe also had 2 marriages ?

I have found an Ursula Lyon died 1715
buried 25 July 1715 widow. Geddington.

This makes sense with the burial record for Robert Lyon Bur 22 Apr 1685.Geddington

If he did marry 2x, then this was the second one.

My aim was to connect this Robert of Geddington to John Lyon of Weekley, who is my main line ancestor. they may be cousins or even brothers.

Two generations earlier I have the GG granfather John Lyon of Weekley had a will proved 1598 Weekley. Yoeman who mentioned in his will brothers Robert and Richard.

hence my theory :-D

Is it at all possible that the records for these villages have not yet been transcribed ?

dusty docs is not a site Im familiar with, will look into it later today.

but John the father of Robert (birth year unknown) is the man I am seeking.
In order to Connect the Lyon family of Geddington to the Lyon family of weekley,


Looks like Geddington records start at 1680. so thats useful.
I think I will have to pay for some lookups via the NRO research service.
This is what I did last year when I ordered the wills and some other info.

But it will have to wait until next year !
