I have no record of his birth/baptism or death/burial. He was my 5x great-grandfather. My connection is thru a daughter with his (3rd?) wife Ann(a) Maria COPE, m. 1778. Any information much appreciated :-)

Gins, this means I have Anna's date of death wrong - I have it as 1850 (b. c1760 but don't know where). But she must have died before 1786...very young. Poor John had a bad time of it! :-( P.S. The surname COPE may have originally been KUELP/KULP or another variation...possible she was German too.

Member Since: May 2004 Posts: 3,557 Send Message	By the by the Wachsel surname is familiar, it came up in connection with my Kraushaar family..(daughter Mary Fesenmeyer married a Kraushaar). I think all these German families must have lived in the same area (I believe thety were Lutheran).

Member Since: May 2004 Posts: 3,557 Send Message	Well now that means it has come full circle, as my great great great grandmother, Elizabeth KRAUSHAAR (grand-daughter of John & Anna FESENMEYER), was married at Little Chishill, Royston, by none other than the Rev John Dorrington, with John Dorrington jnr and Rebekah Dorrington as witnesses along with Mary Kraushaar (sister of Elizabeth). :-D Well done, Gins!
