Another possibility for Harold (if he emigrated):-

Passenger lists leaving UK 1890-1960

Name: Mr H DINGWALL
Date of departure: 15 April 1915
Port of departure: Plymouth
Destination port: Auckland
Destination country: New Zealand

Date of Birth: 1897 (calculated from age)
Age: 18
Marital Status:
Sex: Male
Occupation: Engineer<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Notes:
Passenger recorded on: Page 4 of 6
Ship: PAPAROA
Official Number: 111346
Master's name: N E Bower
Steamship Line: The New Zealand Shipping Company Limited
Where bound: New Zealand
Square feet:
Registered tonnage: 4954
Passengers on voyage: 135

Note that on the 1911 census his brother was an Apprentice Engineer so perhaps he followed him into the same occupation.
