An Ancestry tree has Henry & Sarah, but no info other than 1861 census. He was a mantle maker 1861, a very distinctive occupation, so if he kept this he would be reasonably easy to find.
I can't spot his son 1871 either. Maybe they emigrated!

I'm trying to find the parents and siblings of my g-g-grandfather Henry Augustus SMITH, his place of birth and when he came to South Australia. All I know is that he married Mary AMBER on 7 June 1854 at Magill, Woodforde, SA. His age on his marriage certificate was 19, his father wasn't named and his occupation was listed as either sawyer or lawyer. I've tried to make a connection between him and the witnesses at his wedding, John and Susan Skinner, without success. He died on 16 September 1907 at Sydenham, SA aged 72 years. Some online trees say he was born in Somerset but I've found no evidence of this, and he was also known as James Augustus Long which I know nothing about. It’s also noted that he came to SA on the ship "Hydaspes" in 1851, but that Henry is from another family.

I’ve searched for all births of any Henry Augustus SMITHs in England in the timeframe 1830-1840 (just in case there were errors in his ages) in the hope that I could follow them on the Censuses and rule them out or otherwise. I already have:
- HAS born 24 March 1835, Holborn, London, Middlesex, parents Alfred SMITH and Mary Ann HUSSEY
- Henry Augustus SMITH baptised 1 October 1837, Lambeth, Surrey, parents Henry Augustus SMITH and Maria BARR
- HAS born 1840, Tetbury, Gloucestershire
- HAS born 1840, Guildford, Surrey.
I’ve ruled out the first one born in Holborn, and after looking through the information posted below by forum members I think I can also rule out the Lambeth Henry. The last two are too young.

Is anyone please able to find any other births anywhere that I may have missed, or make suggestions on where to go next? Thank you.
