An Ancestry tree has Henry & Sarah, but no info other than 1861 census. He was a mantle maker 1861, a very distinctive occupation, so if he kept this he would be reasonably easy to find. |

This looks like the married 53 years Augustus. Father named as Alfred Thomas a Tailor, so not yours. He is an Upholsterer as per 1911 census. |

I'm trying to find the parents and siblings of my g-g-grandfather Henry Augustus SMITH, his place of birth and when he came to South Australia. All I know is that he married Mary AMBER on 7 June 1854 at Magill, Woodforde, SA. His age on his marriage certificate was 19, his father wasn't named and his occupation was listed as either sawyer or lawyer. I've tried to make a connection between him and the witnesses at his wedding, John and Susan Skinner, without success. He died on 16 September 1907 at Sydenham, SA aged 72 years. Some online trees say he was born in Somerset but I've found no evidence of this, and he was also known as James Augustus Long which I know nothing about. It’s also noted that he came to SA on the ship "Hydaspes" in 1851, but that Henry is from another family. |
