I have also tried to look for Gordons wife, but she wasnt buried in the same place by the looks of things. she is not on the Becket Glaves website.

Could there be a possibility that they married in Canada? Even though they met in England. There might of been a reason why they couldn't marry in this country. They had Gordon quite soon after James arrived in Quebec. arrived 1929 and Gordon born 1931.

How did you know the birth and death dates for Lily?

Sophia

Sophia Report 27 Jan 2013 12:32

My grandad remembers, but we are unsure about the reason he left as it could of been because he had an affair. If the reason was because he had an affair then that would explain why he didn't put the married home address. However, if there is no such record that they were not married, maybe they weren't. Its a tricky one. I am looking in to whether lily is another name for something else, because I know they used to do that. Thank you for looking and hopefully I will get to the bottom of it. :-S

Are you sure about that marriage? It's just that when he left England in 1929 the address he gave was the same as the address he gave for his mother when he arrived in Canada making it seem that he was living with his mother.

Interesting fact...James Walters born 1906 fled to Canada around 1929 we think..he never came back for unknown reasons...however he had a child called Gordon Walters 1931 - 2009 who my grandad kept in touch with (Christmas cards etc).We found the memorial internet page for Gordon in Canada. Although, we never did know if James went to Canada with the person he married in England or remarried in Canada. I have tried to find the shipping details and come across a James in 1929 but the mother and father names are wrong. I still do not know if Gordon had children and if we have family over there.
