I'm not certain (you would need to buy certificates to prove it) but I think your dad had a sister called Mary and brothers called Alexander, Robert, John and Raymond.

I have to go to bed now. I will look at this thread tomorrow and see if you have got any further.

Hi Wendy and welcome to the boards.

If you check out Davison/Stanners births on FreeBMD, you will see that William and Tina had quite a few children.

I am not seeing a birth registered for a Tina Stanners in England or Wales.

Wondering if she was born in Scotland? Do you have any idea where she was born?

There are far too many William Davison's to be able to pin point which one is your Grandfather.

A copy of their marriage certificate would tell you how old they were when they married and the names and occupation's of their Fathers. (If they knew who their Fathers were of course)

The best place to purchase certificates is online here...

Wendy

Please do try to use freebmd and look for info yourself. That is the fun part of family history research.

Also, look at the Genealogy Chat board, and read some of the threads which have tips and advice about how to go about researching your family.

Start with what you KNOW.............then work from that. And concentrate on ONE line at a time, or you'll get confused.

There is no recorded birth on freebmd of a twin for Lewis. If there was a twin , he/she must have been stillborn.

I can't find a birth of a Margaret as a sister for your father. The only likely birth is a Mary born 1925.

You would have to buy birth certificates to check out all of these births. It costs a fair bit of money to research your family history properly and be sure you have the right information.

As Reggie has already said there is no twin recorded for your dad so if he was a twin the other baby must have been stillborn otherwise the birth and death would have been registered.

Ah, well at least we know we are on the right track!

You will need the "Scotlandspeople" site for Scotland records.

It is not a subscription site...........you need to purchase credits to be able to view records.

Wendy

For future reference.........'stillborn' is not quite the same as 'died at birth'.

Records for stillborns are not 'open'

If a child 'died at birth'..........it usually means that there is a birth registration, and a death registration, which can be accessed.
