Well it certainly sounds better, maybe our ancestors were just as snobbish as we can be! The family does look likely for Annie & Laura.

I've got several examples of where fathers occupations have been 'promoted' on marriage certs. eg Ag Lab to Framer. Big jump from Cowman to Bailiff, but I wouldn't rule it out.

It says on her marriage her father was a Chalres Mizen Farm Bailiff. I can only find him as a cowman etc.

The signatues of David Lewis on the 1889 and 1909 marriages look very simalar to me, allowing for twenty year gap.
