I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION REGARDING THE ABOVE PERSON WHO APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN KNOWN BY BOTH NAMES. HE IS LISTED IN THE 1891 CENSUS AS THE STEPSON OF HUGH AND LUCY McMASTER OF EVERTON,LIVERPOOL,UK. I CAN FIND NO RECORD OF HIM IN THE 1901 CENSUS BUT IN 1902 HE HAD A DAUGHTER CALLED MARY ANN MEADLEY. IF YOU RECOGNISE ANY OF THESE NAMES I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

There's no Walter so am not too sure about the 1901 with Walter as brother.

Whilst it's fairly common for a child to be recorded under stepfather's name it's not so usual for an adult. It sounds as though Thomas kept his own surname when older, especially as he allegedly had a daughter with that surname.
