Hi everyone I've have come to a dead end I've got stuck on my grandfather's side edward w Millington born 1907 in Honeywell. I can find his birth and death cert but can't find him on a census to find his parents :( any ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance :-)

You should buy his birth certificate to find out the names of his parents. That is the only way you can be certain that you have the correct family.


In fact, the ideal is to find his marriage certificate, and buy that. That will tell you the name of his father.

Then you buy the birth certificate based on the father's name

When asked if you have the GRO Index Number, answer Yes


You cannot see information from any English or Welsh certificate anywhere else on line, except for some from the London area.

No-one else can see those details, either.


Seeing the names of your ancestor in a census is not true evidence that that person IS your ancestor ............. you will find that there could be several people with the same name!

Hi everyone thank you so much for the replys wow! First of all I did mean Honeywell haha Edward was married to Elizabeth that's correct I looked on the 1911 census and could not find him :( his full name is edward Wilfred Millington I have found that edward Morris before but can't be the same man ? My dad died when I was 3 so I've done this to find a bit of history as my father and his siblings were separated early on in childhood.I know my grandparents were edward Wilfred and Elizabeth like above and I have found my grandmothers parents but not my grandfather wow this is exciting but confusing lol thanks again everyone for your help :) hayley x :-D

If you look, the baptism I posted above is for Edward WILFRED and he was the son of Thomas and Jane - the same address and occupation as the family on 1911 posted by Choccy where he is shown as Edward Morris which is obviously a mistake.

It's no wonder that they got the middle names mixed up with 8 children to sort out ! ;-). :-D

I am sure that you will find that he is 'your man' if you look again at what has been posted.

I am not seeing a birth registered for an Edward M (Morris) Milington in 1907 Holywell.

Even not sure how to do that but I found it on birth reg search on here when I searched for edward Millington born 1907 x :-)
