I don't know whether Robert father was Henry or George or someone else! Seems 'I've come up against my 'wall'. lol So the parents of Robert Legge born abt 1816 in Shoreditch were ? But father could be: George or Henry.

Yes, Maria was his daughter, that's a mistake it was not his wife.

Gwyn I thought that - but can find censuses for Robert with Mary up to 1871 certainly and then from memory 1881 with Maria showing as his wife but I suspect it is his daughter!

I wonder if this is a later marriage for Robert?
He is shown as of full age ( as is the bride ) and his father was Henry, a gardener
