I want to buy a birth cert for a Ensley Bailey born 1840/41 at Hadlow near Tonbridge kent but dont now have access to these records so i cant get her info for the GRO, is there please any chance someone could look these up for me

With the variation of the name Reggie............the confusion is quite obvious wouldn't you say?

But really, PH, the poster knew the year 1840-41 and the registration district Tonbridge. there were only 3 Baileys, one of them being Hemsley. Had to be her.

A bit harsh - the possibility of miss spellings/variations and names written by officials as they sound because the owner coudn't read or write it not very often considered by a lot of people.
Then the concept of people not being able to read or write is also not thought about until it is explained.
