I would just like to say thank you to Flip and Reggie through Ancestry and G.R. I have made contact with Cath Moore who is Roses Grandaughter, her Uncle was Geoffrey Mason, I have also been contacted by a few of dads relatives who had trees on Ancestry but didn't know of his existence, so I will be keeping in touch with them, thanks to everyone else., Val. :

According to the ERs Percy was still at 22 Chester buildings in 1913, but had moved out by 1918 - although I don't know if the ERs were published during the war years.

I guess you've already checked the BMDs, but your father was originally registered under his mmn, and in 1921 it was amended to register it under the father's name - the BMD indexes have been manually amended accordingly. So that would indicate Percy did not go with Maud to register his birth.

Considering they were never married it's strange how her subsequent marriage is registered under the Hayhow name, with no reference to her real name. Possibly they weren't so fussy back then. ;-)

A tree on ancestry has Rose, and her marriage and a daughter Janet Rose, 1939. You will find an obituary in 2008 for Janet Rose - just google "Janet Rose obituary 2008". I don't want to post her married name on here, but she married in 1966 - the obituary refers to her husband and 2 of her 4 daughters.

The tree also show's Rose had a half brother, but the details are private.

If you can't find the obituary let me know & I'll PM the details.

Julia and various members of the family were still at the same address until 1934, Rose appeared on the 1932 ER.

I don't think Julia died until much later, and there is no sign of a divorce on the national archives. This is most likely for Julia's death:

Julia Hayhow
Birth Date: abt 1871
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1954
Age at Death: 83

Any thoughts on the INFO about Rose's possible son?

If you buy the death cert you'll find out informant's details......................

As for why your grandfather left his wife with all those children................he'd found someone else and set up home with her

When was your Father born?
Thank-you

Added:
You have Maud Collett, 1880, in your tree. Had she been married previously before she gave birth to your Father?

I don't know who registered the 1985 death, I only found out about Rose on Ancestry which I only joined a couple of weeks ago, as she was born in 1912 she wouldn't have been on the 1911 , she and percy were on a couple of trees on that site the tree owner is a cath moore who might be a granddaughter I have sent a message, but she might be off the site for a while, we were told dad was the only child, he never talked about his family, I really would like to know why he left Julia for my nan Maud Collett.
