Thanks Jan! This census from Julias brother was missing :)

Ah,I see. Thanks for explaining!

Maureen :-)

Cippy Report 13 Jun 2013 21:35

maureen, you gave the hint with Thomas & Julia, so I looked up Julias maiden name. Mackintosh. That rang a bell, looked in my tree and there she was. I could of checked my tree for other Stotts first :-D

we always thought Norah was a daughter of my gr gr grandmother Isabella Young nee MacKintosh. But couldnt find her, thinking she was called Norah Young. She was the daughter of Isabella's sister Julia. I even had Thomas Stott in my tree, but without any additional info. It was only yesterday when I found out that she was born Norah Stott. She probably lived with her aunt Isabella (my gr-gr-grandmother) when she came to Sunderland abt 1900.

Just wondering why she had to live in an orphanage 1891, there were so many aunts and uncles :-(

MaureeninNY Report 13 Jun 2013 20:59

OK-now I'm confused,Chris!!!!!

Do you know for certain that Nora is Thomas and Julia's daughter?

Off to make dinner.......

MaureeninNY Report 13 Jun 2013 20:57

May I join you in your "numptiness",Jan????

Maureenxx :-) :-)

Cippy Report 13 Jun 2013 20:56

Cippy Report 13 Jun 2013 20:23

Julia is my 2nd gr-gr-aunt ! We have been searching fpr years!

Cippy Report 13 Jun 2013 20:21

Julia MacKintosh that is, very amazing, this is the connection to my tree !!! Also have Thomas Stott, WOW

Thankyou so much!

brummiejan Report 13 Jun 2013 19:58

Saw that one too! I would guess Julia had a daughter:

Births Sep 1880 (>99%)
STOTT Julia Newcastle T. 10b 36
Deaths Sep 1880 (>99%)
Stott Julia 0 Newcastle T. 10b 19
Deaths Jun 1882 (>99%)
Stott Julia 29 Newcastle T. 10b 5

But you do need a cert don't you.

Will be interested to hear what you find out.

Cippy Report 13 Jun 2013 19:48

yes, they died 1880 and 1882 !

MaureeninNY Report 13 Jun 2013 19:46

I don't know why I'm leaning towards Thomas and Julia STOTT as her parents.

Let us know when you get the certs, would you please?

Cippy Report 13 Jun 2013 19:41

I found an Elizabeth Stote, died Apr 1879, maybe her mother

Cippy Report 13 Jun 2013 19:26

thanks Maureen, yes, could be right. could be illegitimate, have to get the certs

brummiejan Report 13 Jun 2013 19:18

Well done Maureen - missed that one! It does indeed look like Stott. Great find. Doesn't help though does it, what a pity.
Her birthplace being unknown would fit with her being an orphan.

MaureeninNY Report 13 Jun 2013 19:14

Just a possibility for the 1881:

The image could be STOTT.

Fredk Report 13 Jun 2013 19:12

Hilda and May are in free bmd Births . No Nora
No sign of Family in 1881 or 1901 on GR

brummiejan Report 13 Jun 2013 19:02

You're welcome!
You have no doubt found the various Stotts of Newcastle, but no sign of Norah in 1881 as far as I can tell. Might be a cert!!
