maureen, you gave the hint with Thomas & Julia, so I looked up Julias maiden name. Mackintosh. That rang a bell, looked in my tree and there she was. I could of checked my tree for other Stotts first :-D

we always thought Norah was a daughter of my gr gr grandmother Isabella Young nee MacKintosh. But couldnt find her, thinking she was called Norah Young. She was the daughter of Isabella's sister Julia. I even had Thomas Stott in my tree, but without any additional info. It was only yesterday when I found out that she was born Norah Stott. She probably lived with her aunt Isabella (my gr-gr-grandmother) when she came to Sunderland abt 1900.

Just wondering why she had to live in an orphanage 1891, there were so many aunts and uncles :-(

brummiejan Report 13 Jun 2013 19:58

Saw that one too! I would guess Julia had a daughter:

Births Sep 1880 (>99%)
STOTT Julia Newcastle T. 10b 36
Deaths Sep 1880 (>99%)
Stott Julia 0 Newcastle T. 10b 19
Deaths Jun 1882 (>99%)
Stott Julia 29 Newcastle T. 10b 5

But you do need a cert don't you.

Will be interested to hear what you find out.

I don't know why I'm leaning towards Thomas and Julia STOTT as her parents.

Let us know when you get the certs, would you please?

Well done Maureen - missed that one! It does indeed look like Stott. Great find. Doesn't help though does it, what a pity.
Her birthplace being unknown would fit with her being an orphan.

You're welcome!
You have no doubt found the various Stotts of Newcastle, but no sign of Norah in 1881 as far as I can tell. Might be a cert!!
