Hello , Hoping you can help me again , please ?

He married Annie Carroll in 1945 , Islington.

Even one of his sons who contacted me , cannot find any info ?

Thanking you in anticipation

They emigrated to Australia in 1960 untill then lived in Corporation Street Islington London. :-(

Dea Report 21 Jun 2013 16:40

Do you have his marriage cert to give you his father's details?

Marriages Sep 1945
Carroll Annie Cook Islington 1b 474
Cook Cecil R Carroll Islington 1b 474

Dea x

dopey06 Report 21 Jun 2013 17:09

Hello Dea

Thank you for this , Yes I will have to visit the record office , in London .
check it out .

Thank you , Dave :-)

MarieCeleste Report 21 Jun 2013 20:17

Hello Dave, he has a middle initial of R on the marriage record - do you know what it stands for?

KempinaPartyhat Report 21 Jun 2013 20:24

Why do you think you need to go to the records office?

Sounds like he was a £10.00 pom

MarieCeleste Report 21 Jun 2013 20:25

Cecil and Ann/Annie (name depending on which record you look at) seem to have lived in Corporation Street in Islington in the 1950s according to the Electoral Rolls.

In 1959 and 1960 they appear to have moved:

London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965
Name: Cecil R Cook
Year: 1960
County or Borough: Lewisham
Ward or Division/Constituency: Lewisham South
Street Address: 32 Dunfield Road

Ann Cook at same address.

KempinaPartyhat Report 21 Jun 2013 20:30

there is a tree on the "other" site is that your tree coz there is some possible usefull info on there

Dea Report 21 Jun 2013 20:30

Dave - just order the cert through GRO site - £9.25.

It will probably be cheaper and quicker than visiting London !

Certificates aren't held in London unless you are thinking of local register office. However unless you pay big money you can't get the cert on the one visit

Far easier is to order it online from the GRO

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 22 Jun 2013 10:44

You are obviously in contact with his son (on Ancestry) - is Cecil/Cyril still alive?

If not, when did he die? Australian records show mother and father up to 1985

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jun 2013 10:55

From the Australian NA site - day of birth left for Cecil, others editted out

COOK Cecil Robert Raymond born 27 January 1920; Ann (nee Carroll) born October 1928; Patricia Ann born February 1947; Margeret Rose born April 1953; Raymond Alexander born December 1948; Frederick John born November 1951; Douglas Robert born April 1960; travelled per FAIRSKY departing UK on 3 May 1963 under the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme.

Extracting information about Cecil from the above.
His declared name in full was

Cecil Robert Raymond Cook
DOB 27 Jan 1920

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jun 2013 10:58

Possibly his birth - note that mothers maiden name is the same as his surname. Although a Cook might have married a Cook, it usually indicates that the mother was unmarried

Last Name COOK
Birth Year 1920
Mother's Maiden Name COOK
Year 1920
Country England
County Essex
Event Quarter 1 (Jan-Mar)
District Number
Volume 4A

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jun 2013 11:06

List of Places in Tendring Registration District can be found here

If the immigration records match with the family, you may find that the MC doesn't list a (birth) father. The BC would be more informative by giving the mother's name.

Give him time Dave - he may have real life events going on.

Check your sent message box - if there is still an envelope icon next to the message, he hasn't had a chance to read it yet. ;-)
