Hi everyone, I am trying to trace my great granddad without much success. His name is Francis Bovey born 1846 approx in Lambeth London. He married Eliza Harrison born approx 1857 in Bristol. I can find him from the Ancestry site in the 1891 census as Francis Bobby with Eliza and children and in 1901 census as Franersese Bovey with eliza and children. This seems to be as far as I can get. I cant find a marriage certificate for them and i cant trace him earlier living at home so i could go back to his father etc. |

many thanks for all your replies. I have my granddads birth certificate (Samuel Bovey born 28 April 1887) His father is Francis Bovey (waterside labourer) and his mother is Eliza Bovey formerly Harrison living at 7 Dobbs Cross. |

As Reggie says that 1872 marriage doesn't appear to be your Francis. |

Not seeing a death for Sarah before 1891 - perhaps Francis wasn't free to marry Elizabeth? |

My 'take' on it is that he was married to Sarah, but at some stage after 1881 census, he left her, and took up with Eliza(beth) , with whom he fathered more children. |
