Yes it is, Reggie. Particularly with regard to knowing that Priscilla appeared to be alive when her brother married.

Thanks so much both of you.

Flip Report 20 Jul 2013 12:39

The 1883 marriage for Priscilla to Thomas Grundy found by Reggie must be for the daughter of Charles Jnr - they are on 1911 census:

Priscilla Grundy
Age in 1911: 49
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1862
Relation to Head: Wife
Gender: Female
Birth Place: Manchester, Lancashire, England
Civil Parish: South Manchester
County/Island: Lancashire
Country: England
Street Address: 81 Monton Street Moss Side Manchester
Marital Status: Married
Registration District: Chorlton
Registration District Number: 464
Sub-registration District: Hulme
ED, institution, or vessel: 64
Piece: 23929
Household Members: Name Age
Thomas Grundy 51
Priscilla Grundy 49
Edith H Grundy 26
Thomas Grundy 22
Sidney Grundy 16

And this could confirm, birth of the oldest child shown:

Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1884
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Mother's Maiden Name Reference
GRUNDY Edith Huntsworth Ardwick Manchester ARD/191/71

although no mmn stated, her middle name rather gives it away.

So, what happened to the other Priscilla - I guess from your last post she is the one you are interested in?

Joy *The Carlos Cutie of Ilson* Report 20 Jul 2013 12:46

Yes she is the one I'm interested in Flip. I have her up to 1861, living in Lancashire. Wonder if she married under either the UNSWORTH/HUNSWORTH spelling. Wouldn't be the first if she did. If you look at FreeBMD you will see a marriage for George Herbert Huntsworth. I have that cert and it's been amended, the spelling of the surname on the actual cert is UNSWORTH.

Joy *The Carlos Cutie of Ilson* Report 20 Jul 2013 12:55

Think that death for Mary Huntsworth is for Charles (1805) half-sister, she never married but had an illegitimate daughter, namely Louisa, 1871 Census finds them living together, Mary working as a Milliner, Louisa as a Teacher

Think you may be right with Priscilla:

Priscilla Unsworth
Age: 30
Birth Year: abt 1838
Marriage Date: 26 Dec 1868
Parish: Manchester, St Mary, St Denys and St George
Father's Name: Charles Unsworth (button maker)
Spouse's Name: Thomas Barlow (Porter
Spouse's Age: 30
Spouse's Father's Name: Thomas Barlow (cow keeper)
Archive Roll: 736

His address 56, hers 54 Silver street. Neither had been married before, one of the witnesses was Charles Unsworth, but I can't read the other witness name.
