Hi

There is another John Gard* about the same age as your man, in Epsom on the 1861 census. However, he is still around on the 1871 census, so the above is not his death

I cannot see any other John Gard* 1861/1871, Epsom, so it looks like the death that BMD posted could well be your man

The only way to find out is coughing up £9.95, I'm afraid

Kevin

Kevin Report 18 Oct 2013 16:00

yeah saw that, im just struggling thinking that he ended up in Epsom particularly if Mary Ann was pregnant and if george was born in croydon- do you think he could have been in a workshouse infirmary
Im loathed to order the cert cos its £10 a go and it could be wrong??

but thank you again for your help :-)

Eventually found them in hte 1861 census- in GR they are recorded as John and Mary GARDEN and then the children are recorded as GOODEN
such is the power of the transcriber for the database.

so it follows that if in 1871 if Mary Ann was a widow with a child of 5 months then George Gardner must have died late 1870 early 1871 assuming that that child was his??!!. anyone got any records for that :-D

Hi all, sorry for absence, work called.
Anyway back to it now.
Im confused also.
I will eventually go to look at the workshouse records if I can to see if this is the case.
I do have a death certificate for a George Gardiner which fits it was in the workhouse in 1902 in croydon.
I will do a bit of searching this pm

Afternoon Gins and Kevin.

Had a bad night so did'nt get up till late.

I can't find John in 1841 or mary Ann if she was Mary Ann Fuller with father Richard. I was tired last night so perhaps I missed something.
