Where and when was Hubert born and what was his occupation?
May help to find him in 1911 census which will tell us when he married.

Hi Colette,

We cannot help you on this unless you give us some further info please.

There is no such marriage within that time scale in Liverpool.

I have found a 'possible' but it was in Manchester.

I appreciate that you do not know the name of his spouse but if you could give us all the info you have on Hubert + why you think he married within that time + any children you may have for the couple, then we should be able to offer you some assistance.

Thanks,

Dea x

This is the only marriage I can see around that time for a Hubert Leonard without any middle names:-

Name: LEONARD, Hubert
Registration district: Devonport
County: Devon
Year of registration: 1908
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Not available before 1912
Volume no: 5B
Page no: 708

MarriageFinder: Hubert Leonard married one of the following people:

DAVIS, Alice Maud
SKELTON, Louisa Jane
GOODALL, Herbert Walter

If he was a sailor he probably moved about a fair bit and could have been in Devonport.

EDIT - Could it be that he married Louisa Jane Skelton? There is a Louisa Jane Leonard living in Liverpool as a widow in the 1911 census (although it says she has been married 13 years and not 3 years).

I think that one married Alice Maud Davis as they are both on 1911 with a small son - William, aged 2. Hubert was a shipwright, born in Pembrokeshire.

I don't think it is the one she is looking for though but we DO need more info from Colette.

Thanks Dea. I didn't find that Hubert in the 1911 census the first time I looked.

I think perhaps the Huber(t) Leonard who was American from the 1901 census might be the one we are looking for as he was the only one I found with a Liverpool connection.

Definitely need Colette to come back with more information.

Hi and thanks for all your imput the trouble is I don't have enough to go on to tell you more.
He married in Llanelli Wales in 1919 a Mary Ann Lennon they had two children Hubert & Anne in Liverpool, He had been married before and was a bigamist, I don't know the name of his first wife.

He left his second wife and kids and died in Fleetwood Lancashire 1934 so he was born c 1888, I cannot see a birth for a Hubert Leonard c1888 so was thinking it may have been a middle name.
I am helping a friend and Hubert was her Grandfather but that's about all she knows, she says she thinks his first wife may have lived in Fleetwood and he told her Gran he was from Swansea.

That's about all I know.

Thanks Colette
