Both Francis and Henry were baptised in 1905 as Cox's in Southampton (should have added this bit at the beginning).
Would explain why Southampton has no marriage between henry and Louisa.
I have seen the tree with this other marriage with francis, however the tree owner has hidden the other spouse and child. They haven't responded to my 2 messages and comment on the tree, so sadly I am unable to confirm all that.
It is slightly annoying when people don't reply, but maybe their subscription ran out

There is a possible second marriage in 1952 to Owens.....I am just trying to make sense of it.

Couldn't be 1905 Gemma as Henry wasn't born until the end of 1906

Astra.......can you make any sense of the 1952 Marriage for an Eileen Lewis in 1952 Portsmouth Hampshire to a Robert W Owens???

I'm going by what the Southampton archivist told me via email. Course the year could have been mistyped and meant another year. I'll try to find the email again as I didn't write down everything it said.

Gemma Report 6 Jun 2014 14:08

Just double checked. It was 1908.
Dear Gemma,Thanks for your message. We may have found him: I checked baptisms for Southampton and found one for a Francis Albert Cox, son of Henry (pedlar) and Louisa, 9 West Street, baptised at St Michaels church 26/7/1908 (born 28/11/1904). Another child, Henry Cox (born 5/9/1906) was baptised on the same day.I did find a marriage entry between a Henry Cox and a Louisa but am not sure if it is connected. Here are the details, just in case:Henry Cox, age 40, bach, carpenter, 81 Pound St, Shirley (father John Cox, insurance agent)married Louisa Newbery, age 30, spinster, 28 Above Bar (father Henry Newbery gas fitter) on 4 Sep 1887 at All Saints Best wishes,Joanne SmithArchivistSouthampton City Council

Sorry PH I was lunching!

Lewis or Bugler. So obviously previously married.

Is that the one.

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 6 Jun 2014 14:23

If Louisa Newbery was 30 at the time of her marriage in 1887.........highly unlikely she was having children at the age of 55 in 1911.

Ok........thank you Astra.

Gemma Report 6 Jun 2014 14:30

Yes I didn't think it would have been the norm-and the nice lady said she doubts it too.
Might be related somehow though.
I need to try to contact this tree owner again and try to get them to answer my enquiry. Just a yes or no would suffice. At least I'd know if I've got everything right or not :/

I am hugely tempted to say def same people as I need (just because it fits and I want Irish in the family. I've got Scottish and Welsh in there somewhere. And possibly french. Irish would make it even better).
Due to a huge lack of funds I am unable to get my hands on francis cox's birth certificate, and bmd is fairly unhelpful.
At least I can delete them if they are wrong.

Gemma.........I know the best way to go is to purchase certificates, but for what it's worth, all the above information seems far too much of a coincidence for this not to be the correct family.

Thank you.
If only I the money. Only using genes reunited this month because it was £1. One day they will make the certificates free.
Wonder why (if it def is the same person) why he went from Southampton to witterings/Chichester to Portsmouth that quickly. And if he did move and die in Portsmouth why continue to work in Chichester? He worked as a bus driver at Chichester bus station.
Worth pointing out that my dad (his grandson) is a bus driver at Chichester bus station. Was weird when I found that out!
