I think this is Dorothy's parents marriage:

Marriages Dec 1887 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clark Sophia Georgina Newcastle T. 10b23<<<<
FRANCIS John Newcastle On Tyne 10b23<<<<
KINGHORN Alexander Newcastle T. 10b23
RICHARDSON Margaret Newcastle T. 10b23

Although a widow, on the 1911 census she had stated married 23 years 9 children, 5 still living (4 with her + your Dorothy I presume). Born Whitechapel, London - but this varies with each census.

If you want John William Linsey's parents then you are going to have to get the marriage certificate for the name of his father, and addresses and occupations and witnesses will also help.

Hi Lynn, there is no deaths for John or Dorothy in the area in 1947. There's a possible for John in 1946 (as previously posted), but nothing for Dorothy 1945-50, there is however a death in Newcastle in 1969 which could be her (age 80).

How sure are you that they both died in the 1940s?

Looking at the freebmd they look to have had a further 5 children after the 1911 census, but 3 of those died in childhood (Sophia G, John F & Eliza A), leaving just Margaret E 1914, and John W 1923.

ADDED: Whoever registered the 1969 death did not give Dorothy's birth date, just stated born Feb.1889 - Dorothy Francis was registered JFM qtr 1889.

If this is the correct census for Francis - John's father, then, the Irish connection could be Francis' mother
