Hi Neil - I can't add anything...and you need to remove your email addy to avoid falling foul of GR's rules. If you think that this is definitely YOUR James, then continue on this thread. But, if not, start your own thread

Hi Neil

As I said to you in a PM.........I can't find a baptism on Ancestry for your James Scott.

You could post a thread of your own about him, in the hope that someone else might be able to help with the parents of your James Scott.

Prickles. :-)

Hello to one and all who have been involved in this past posting. I have been in direct contact with a couple of you, but to the rest, I would ask if anyone has any further knowledge regarding the James Scott who married Elizabeth Mintern in 1847, Lymington. I am trying to determine if this James Scott, born about 1794 is the same James Scott that is on my tree. My James was born about 1794, Boldre, to John Scott and Mary Pointer who had married at Brockenhurst in 1793.

Any comments are appreciated.

So if the death is correct, perhaps Agnes and James "adopted" Ernest (he would have been only 7 when his mother died)

It goes no way to proving/disproving the "royal Blood" backtheme :-)

And Prickles/Dea..."I lost all my teeth AND hair doing this one Dea.

This conjures up images of Wayne Rooney which are not pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has arrived!!! .....and better still...No confusion.

It has exactly the same details as Reginald Norris White's birth certificate.

A recap...

Reginald appears as "Reggie" Nephew of Mary Ann and Stephen Munden on the 1911 census.
On the 1891....Mary and Stephen claim he is their Son.

Ernest...appears as Ernesta White "Neice" with Agnes Mary and James Carpenter on the 1891 census.

James and Agnes Mary Carpenter emigrated to Townsville, Queensland, Australia in 1900. Ernest appears as their Son on the passengers list.

On Reginald's military record...he states his Next Of Kin is younger Brother Ernest White of Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

Reginald's birth certificate details.....

03/07/1883

No Father named.

Mother: Annie Sarah White of Milford. Domestic Servant
Residence: Union Workhouse Lymington

Ernest's birth certificate details...

08/08/1888

No Father named.

Mother: Annie Sarah White...Domestic Servant of Milford, Lymington.
Residence: Union Workhouse Lymington.

I can only assume that Annie Sarah White is the Anne Whitt who appears with Agnes on the 1871 census in the Lymington Union Workhouse.

(Annoying that it didn't mention Annie's age on either record)

I am sure that we have all enjoyed it thus far Prickles. - I can't wait for that cert to arrive, as you say, I am sure it will get even more complicated.

I can't say that I have managed to post very much but it has been fun searching to see what I could find.

It is SO nice to have something challenging to 'get your teeth into' ;-) :-D

PricklyHolly Report 25 Mar 2015 19:05

Ernest's birth certificate is due to arrive in the next day or two.

I will bet you my last rolo it's complicated!! :-|

A huge thank you to Jude, Gritty, Dea and Mary for all your contributions on this thread.

This has been the most frustrating, infuriating, complicated, enjoyable and rewarding search I think I have ever done. :-D

None of it was a simple case of looking up an obvious record......every record took time to search and I am very grateful.

I appreciate the time you have all spent searching.
