Wow! Thank you everyone who searched and found my grandfather, father and uncles. I am SO PLEASED . Isn't it sad that parents t tell their children so very little about their own childhood. Still, if they did there would be nothing for researchers to do with their spare moments!

that's great that you've found out so much so quickly maureen .I know you didn't mean to mark as answered in case more information turns up .

The first name changes are as varied as my lot ;
i like how Solomom.Solly is transcribed as Jolly in 1 census
when did he become Sydney
was Emmanuel also his middle name

If you can get his marriage details we can find out if he had any children .

i don't think any are yours http genes reunited search results ;

ps your question hasn't come up on the " living relative " thread yet

editted ; don't know if that has shortened correctly

Brigid can you shorten the links please as they have stretched the page :-)

I believe Maureen is aware that Sidney has a child ;-) or she wouldn't be here to ask . :-D

Likely marriage for Alfred ( Emanuel and in name of Abramovitz) 1926 Islington but perhaps Maureen would prefer to look for that herself if she doesn't already know about it? :-) Not seeing anything obvious for Josiah/Joe though.

Think this may well be Josiah,

Marriages Sep 1924 (>99%)

ABRAMOVITZ Joseph Myers London C. 1c 94
EMANUEL Joseph Snipelinsky London C. 1c 94

It would appear his wife also changed her name

Annie Snipelinsky

As you can see father's name is Myer so probably why she took the name Myers

Actually I am the daughter of Sidney Emanuel! All the brothers changed their surname to Emanuel. Jo married a Peggy someone, not Annie Snipelinsky. The two older brothers did not have any children, so I am hoping to find descendants of the Bloomberg brothers related to Minnie who married Emanuel Abrhamovitz.
Regards Maureen

Re BrummieJan's post re probate for Emanuel Abramovitz , I'd missed it but have sent this to Maureen,

the probate for the Emmanuel Abramovitz 1911 gives the following '31 Newington Green road islington...died 9th April 1919 at Mildmay Memorial Hospital... administration to Minnie Abramovitz.

address as per the 1911 so definitely the right one.

sorry i can't shorten the link to crimes everytime i click on it i go straight to the page

maureen ..dont rue out Annie Snipelinsky ,Peggy is only a nickname and not always short for Margaret ...also she could be Annie Peggy Snipelinsky using 1st + middle names alternatively

i haven't had time to look at your history this week . If you summarize your findings + let me know who you want me to look for on school records I'll do that next week .

I am pretty certain that Josiah, aka Joe Emanuel, Joe Edwards, did not marry a Annie Snipelinski. Alf Emanuel married a Sylvia Cunliffe. I could not find any link on living relatives but I shall take another look.

Rambling

Rambling Report 22 Oct 2015 17:37

Joe Edwards? Is that what Josiah changed his name to Maureen?
