Chris, can you give me reference to death 30/8/1923, please .I Am, convinced that is the right one, and would like to send for cert. i cant find it on GR

I also have the cert for Albert Junior marriage in 1933, and that states albert was deceased, so rules out the later deaths . thanks

I must say that maybe giving your kids weird names (Jamie Oliver?) maybe not such a bad idea, after all.

I don't know if the 1923 death is correct, but I do now doubt the Albert A Jones 1925 Hackney death

I believe that was for an Albert Anthony Jones

Chris Ho :) Report 19 Aug 2016 12:46

Quite a tall order that Pauline, lol, have a look at how many there are for that name on a search below, some Albert A., number then needs checking out, transferring to Ancestry, or FMP for starters...

Hi Helpers
Dc arrived.
Albert Jones (no middle name) died 22.8.1923 (42)at St Bartholomew's , Hospital Verified by widow M Jones, and still living at Parkfield Street.
So thanks Chris. Will not bother to look for service record, as too many Albert Jones, and no one alive (all too young) can help.
So now carry on back to Cambridgeshire!!

Chris Ho :)

Chris Ho :) Report 22 Aug 2016 11:19

Yes, thought that might be St. Barts.

As for Cambs., have given you a start with Baptisms, March., not sure what you already have, don't want to repeat!.

Chris :)

Ah good news Pauline! I wouldn't worry about the lack of middle name...maybe he never used it?

Several of us have FMP (I have Britain) so given the correct info to search on we can do it for you (to save you spending).

jude, thanks for the offer. I have (FMP) marriage of William Jones 21/october 1823
to Sarah Dickerson. Have found 2 Sarah Dickerson baptism One 29th May1800. Parents John And mary., also found Sarah Dickerson 18th Jan 1801 Parents Richard and Rachel both in March. Can.t find Williams birth . The GR records don't show anything
Would be grateful for any help with this if possible.
I am walking wounded at moment , so a bit restricted in movements!! (Don't ask how!)

Chris Ho :) Report 26 Aug 2016 18:25

GR should have Cambridgeshire Baptisms...(Find My Past do, perhaps not so easy to find on GR!)

Chris :)

Would say the Richard/Rachel was likely, as Parents of Mary Ann Dolby (Dalby on 1826 Baptism, March) were William and Ann Dickerson. Baptism March 1804 Ann Dickenson, Parents Richard/Rachel

Perhaps Sarah and Ann were Sisters...

(reference was below couple)

Marriages Dec 1857 (>99%)
---------------------------------------------------
Dolby Mary Ann Clerkenwell 1b 691
Jones George Clerkenwell 1b 691

(George Baptism, March 1826 1 Oct, Parents William, Sarah Dickerson)

(as for William Jones, could be quite a few, maybe wasn't March)

Chris Ho :)

Chris Ho :) Report 26 Aug 2016 18:38

Seems when using Genes search, you need 'All Categories' then 'Births Marriages Deaths' then 'Collections in this Category' Births & Baptisms (or whatever!) then 'Records in this Collection' Cambridgeshire comes up in list...

(and after that lot enough to give you headache!, lol, unless of course there is a quicker way)

Chris :)

Pauline Report 29 Aug 2016 17:10

Have found William Jones Baptism 1803 Doddington Cambs
Father John Jones, Mother Eliza
Wife Sarah Dickerson 1801 March Cambs
Father Richard , mother Rachel

I really would like to get further back on William and father John Jones, any help gratefully received

The reason being that my daughter and family now live in DODDINGTON , which makes it really interesting for us. When I get the chance will definitely get to the church, and the is only 1 in Doddington now, so hopefully my get to see the records

Q. Are the baptism dates close to birth date , as can't find the actual birth date ?

Chris Ho :)

Chris Ho :) Report 29 Aug 2016 17:18

The Parish Records are held at Cambridgeshire Archives (In Cambridge) Pauline, so should be online, if you have found Baptism there...

(or you can purchase cd's from below)

https://www.cfhs.org.uk/index.cfm?tag=1

(CFHS Shop, then Search)

Chris :)

(you can also search Baptisms/Burials 1801 - 1837 on above, go to Research, then Search)

Edits (below has Doddington, a useful free link, doesn't cover all Cambs. Parishes though)

PatinCyprus Report 29 Aug 2016 17:39

Baptism dates are not always close to the birth. I have had many baptisms at a few days or weeks old but I've also had quite a few doing mass baptisms ranging from a baby to a 7 year old plus 1 adult baptism. All you know is that child was there at the baptism. I had one little baby baptised then buried so was baptised when dead.
