You're quite right - that Charles in 1860 may or may not be married.

My goodness you have all been very busy-thank you very much-the child Charles Sholl would seem to be his and Annies'-if that is him in the 1860 census he must have returned to England between 1860-1868 -what a tangled web!!

Although not connected to his later marriage to my ancestor{distant!} I will note the info in case anyone is trying to find him :-)
