Flatman / Floatman Boatman on a flat bottom boat (a flat) used in shallow waters (mainly rivers and canals) for transport. The term also came to refer to shallow-draft coastal sailing vessels.

Sorry, had to take the dog for walk before the light went.

So is the 1911 Census that I have given correct?

Also, you say that the occupation given for Joseph Anderson (father) on Frederick James's Marriage Cert is Hat Man could it possibly be Tug Man instead?

What are you trying to find out about Frederick James Anderson?

Chris Ho :)

Chris Ho :) Report 2 Nov 2016 16:47

(are you sure that doesn't say Boat Man, or similar on that Cert.?, a lot of men on below image relating to dock work, one a Tugboat man)

This could be the family in the 1911 Census although Father, Joseph, is not a Hat Man but I suppose it is conceivable that he could have changed his occupation by 1929

LondonBelle Report 2 Nov 2016 14:47

There is only one Frederick James Anderson born between 1907 and 1909 which is the following

Births Jun 1908
Anderson Frederick James Birkenhead 8a 466

So if Frederick J in the 1939 Register was born on 31 Mar 1908 this would be the correct Birth Registration for him

Sylann Report 2 Nov 2016 14:30

Just noticed the confusion The Frederick Hornby living at Martha Street is the brother of Martha who married James Frederick Anderson

Too many Fredericks

The trouble with my tree is I have so many with the same name it takes me a long time to sort it out
I've got all the info on the Sidgreaves / Hornby marriage

But this is more closer to home and I have had contact with a distant relative who is connected to the family Anderson's who I'm trying to get a bit more on.

apology accepted and thank you

Chris
The post has nothing to do with Martha Hornby & Frederick James Anderson !!!
Yes it is one of my topics and it has Hornby mostly about Foster Hornby

but as I've said I'm trying to find out about the Anderson Family.
I have found a few of the children were born in Birkenhead
