I am still frantically trying to collate it all together for when we go over to Holland next week to visit our friend and lay flowers on my dads and his crew graves in Nijmegen. I have found that the Langtons of Salt Lake are connected to the Ross and McPhersons of Scotland so been busy finding them. Gosh it's never ending. Burning the midnight oil every night.

According to the newspaper reports, on George Amos Langton, the info provided by the the son of Major Langton's sister, stated he had just 3 children from his first marriage
one daughter and 2 sons

Yes, daughter Isabella did marry Rev Walsh
Son James married Dorcas Harte
Son George Amos Langton ( later took the name of Marshall) was unmarried

Update on the Langtons of Bruree. I have found that Isabella Christiana Frances Langton b 9 th Dec Limerick, daughter of Major James Langton of Bruree married a Rev. John Prendergast Walsh Waterloo officer in the Rifle Brigade, Isabella died 9th July 1886. Apparently she was not the only daughter. Also found a John Marshal Langton baptised 28 July 1803 Ballyhay Cork, this could be another son because of the middle name Marshal. Major James Langton having married a Mary or Margaret Marshall in 1796

Glasgow Lass and Erinobragh . I have an update from my Dutch friend, she received an email last week 16th April from her half brother Julian Curran to say his mother Marion nee McFarlane. Curran died the week before at the age of 95 .How ironic that you found her and her parents for me around about the same time she died.

Sorry Glasgowlass and Erinobragh for not answering but have been unable to get on line. Well you have certainly found so much more between you and I am so thankful.Our friend in Holland has managed to get a photo of James Langton when he was in The Adobe Wall Battle which she is so pleased to see a face of her Langton ancestry. We are going to Holland in 3 weeks time so I will have to sit down with her and try and sort all this out. The mind certainly boggles so I know how you both must feel.

Found Annie's Will on Ancestry. which is also where I found the info relating to her father's will and the daughter named Eva.
Eva turned out to be Ena which is short for Edwardena

The amounts that Annie bequeathed was only the cash.
She had a wealth of jewellery and fine heirlooms to be handed out too.
Most of that was to go to Birdie, Inez and Irene Langton

She asked for her homestead to be sold and the proceeds to be divided equally among her siblings and their spouses

I did note on the "immigration year" for Charlotte she has 1856 but that still didn't help in locating their passage to the states.

I located the Will of Annie Sheldon who died in 1909.
She sure had a fortune to bequeath and says her sister's name is EDWARDINA OFFLEY.
Since discovered her name was Edwardina Broderick Langton and married Edward H Offley .
Known as Ena rather than Eva

Almost every member of Annie's family including siblings, brothers in law, sister in law, nieces and nephews in the US and Ireland was included in her will.

They received between $5000 & $8000 dollars EACH, with smaller amounts to unrecognised indivuduals


Edward H Offley died in 1927 and Edwardina died in LA in 1942

I figured out the 1871 census in St Pancras for George AL Marshall

It says: Fiztroy Mansion, 90, 92 & 94 Charlotte Street
2 pages of individuals living over 2 separate properties
It looks like an elite boarding house

Came back over the water as Charlotte Amelia's death in 1904 showed her place of birth to be England !!!

Well using Pasley not Paisley found a marriage for her sister Mary...

1833 1 09 CARTER Sampson Esq jun In Turlough church, Sampson CARTER, jun, Esq son of Maj CARTER of Tipperary to Mary daughter of the Rev Henry PASLEY, rector of Ballyhane, co Mayo

They went on to have a number children but Mary died 1850.

Sampson Carter jnr. was a Civil Engineer and Surveyor

Mary died after giving birth to a stillborn child following a long protracted labour .
She left 6 children

This is what I have uncovered since yesterday.......

Sisters Ann and Catherine Raymond b Co Kerry were living in Dublin 1901/1911.They were in their 70s and 80s....both spinsters and of Independent means...Land and Property...They both died in Dublin Ann before Catherine....

Could this be the Anne who was witness on the MC for Henrietta 1864....??

I wondered over the "pond" to see if I could find out the Anne L Langton's middle name

Well it uncovered nothing relating to that but it did uncovered the following ...

Anne L Langton did marry Theodore Barnard Sheldon he died in 1900..aged 80yrs.
Charlotte Amelia Langton widow of Wm .was living with Anne in Red Wing Minnesota 1900
Charlotte is actually recorded as dying in Red Wing 1904 so she must have gone back to Wisconsin to be buried...that wouldn't have been a problem if you read about Theodore B Sheldon...!!

Anne L Langton Sheldon died Red Wing in either 1907/1909..its confusing as I can find a death for 1909 but a Probate for 1907..!!!
There were no children from her marriage and l the 5 children from Theo's first marriage had already died

Cannot find her Obit or Burial...

Got to the bottom of the 1851 commission Report into "Richard" Langton Marshall

One or two newspapers did indeed refer to him as George rather than Richard.

I have just located the Will of... bachelor, GEORGE Amos Langton Marshall, formerly from Dublin but latterly in England

He died in Southampton in 1873 ( birth 1813) and left his estate to his half sister, Adelaide Enright

On the 1851 report Cousin, Adam Newman stated only 3 children from Major Langton's 1st marriage.

I guess that George and Richard is the same person and the report stating his name as Richard was an error

He is in London at 1871.
Boarder at a place that I cannot read but his Occupation is : Landed Gentry.
Can you read the name of the establishment? Is this a private hospital or nursing home?

I'm being driven nuts.
Can't find anything positive on the Currans so I went back to the Langtons in Wisconson.
The family is definitely in Milwaulkee at 1860
No trace at 1870.

Daughter Louisa from the 1860 census died in Wisconson in 1873. It says age 12 ( Scarlet Fever) ?
What is odd is that on Directories on 1868 to 1874, father William and 2 daughters, Anna and Helena only are listed at the family home.
There is no sign of wife/mother Charlotte Amelia but Oddly, she ad daughter Annie are both listed at this same address from 1888 onwards?
Where was she between 1868 and 1888?

NO trace of parents at 1880 but son James and 2 Daughters, including Helena are all found, unmarried and living together in....Kansas.!
I didn't recognise the name of the youngest sister. See below..

I then located the Will for William who died in 1886.
He made his Will in 1882 and named his wife Charlotte as his executor but I don't fully understand the petition made by his widow, Charlotte because, it was dated 1892?? 6yrs after he died?

However, she listed all 5 living children.
at 1892 she confirms
Daughter Henrietta Hall ives in Dublin
Son, James lives in Utah
Annie is unmarried and lives in Milwaulkee
Daughter Helena, married name WALKER, lives in UTAH
Daughter, EVA married name either OFFLEY or OTTLEY lives in Texas.

8yr old Charlotte from the 1860 census is not mentioned
At 1880 Eva was in the Kansas household and was 20yrs old. Born Circa 1860

Helena married William Walker in St Louis, Missouri in 1885
They appear on census returns in Utah at 1900 and 1910.( no apparent children)
By 1940 Helena is a widow living in LA where she died in 1946.
Place of births are given as Ireland, New York and Illinois.
Is it any wonder we could't find her?

Eva is rather elusive at the moment.

I am starting to get somewhere with the parents of Robert Currie.

I think I found them in Syracuse, NY at 1928.
His mother is listed on a Directory as "Bessie M Curran"
As her initials on Roberts marriage were E.M, So I'll hazzard a guess that her name was Elizabeth.

The best way for me to do this was to simply create a tree, fill in all the info from US records and work backwards from there.
So far, his parents appear to be. .... IRISH!

Erm... Perhaps not the correct couple after all?

I know you found nothing for Robert D Curran but is there a site that I can go on to for New York births and marriages. Just looked on the marriage certificate for Robert and Inez Langton in California and it states he was born 1882 New York, a 2nd marriage and been a widower for 3 yrs. Unable to find his father Andrew B Curran and wife M E Pettijohn both from New York, Surely this family is registered somewhere. Obviously Robert must have gone down to live in California at some time possibly during his 1st marriage. ,unable to find a marriage for him either in California or New York, unless he went down to California with parents, unable to find a death for them all. Seems a dead end with them and my friend so wanted to find her Curran roots, but must say is in awe with your findings on the Langtons
