Thank you mgnv - I was using the Quarter to try and illustrate whether there was time between births for another to fit! A birth mid-November 1852 and then end December 1854 would leave time for one between, but as there were baptisms with birth dates for the Solomons, it then showed a much narrower window of opportunity, almost negating the chance. Not every birth date is shown on a baptism record and not every birth has a baptism online so lucky with these that it shortened the odds.

Greyghost - just to advise you that LancsBMD indexes by year of birth, not quarter of registration. Here's an example:

Name: Mother's Maiden Surname:
SCOTT, ISABELLA RHODEN Order
GRO Reference: 1855 M Quarter in WIGAN Volume 08C Page 8

Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1854
Surname Forename(s) Mother's Maiden Name Sub-District Registers At Reference
SCOTT Isabella RHODEN Aspull Wigan & Leigh ASPL/10/250

A 7 Jan 1855 baptism at Wigan All Saints says the birth was 27 Dec.

Thank you everyone for your help.
I need to rethink this now and see if it is possible that the children had two names an English one and a Jewish one. Thanks again

A foot note to the marriage. I sent for the marriage of a Rebecca Solomon to a Joseph Solomon manchester as found on previous thread as no one could find a marriage between a Jane Sims and Joseph Solomon and no Rebecca on any census. They give their fathers names as Abraham Solomon for both both deceased and Rebecca and Joseph are both at the same address. I am sure it is the correct marriage but what I am trying to say it does not prove the name changing. So even if I Send for all the birth certificates and marriage certificates of the children it would. Not prove that Sarah is Hannah .
I have Rebecca/Jane Solomon's death certificate 1894 and the name of the informant is Annie Solomon which I thought was possibly Hannah but if Hanna is Sarah this cannot be correct as Sarah married in 1873
This is getting complicated :-\

Is there time between births !!

? Isaac/Joseph - b Mar Qtr 1851 so anytime mid November 1850 to end Mar 1851

Eli - b Mar Qtr 1853 so anytime mid November 1852 to end Mar 1853
A baptism shows born March 1853

? Hannah/Sarah - b Dec Qtr 1854 so anytime mid August 1854 to end Dec 1854
A baptism shows for Hannah ? born October 1854

Abraham/Geo F - bSep Qtr 1856 so anytime mid July 1856 to end Sep 1856
Baptism shows born July 1856

Just about time for a child between Eli and Hannah/Sarah but probably pushing it??

Same for between Hannah/Sarah and Abraham/George F

well the marriage will give her age and father but probably won't help with the name change :-(

kath23 Report 19 Mar 2017 16:21

This name changing is making things very difficult.

Even if I Send for Hannah Maria birth certificate I will not know if she is SarahI believe that Sarah married a Abraham Biurski in Manchester June 1873 but is Sarah Hannah ????

greyghost Report 19 Mar 2017 16:14

There is a Hannah at the bottom of the original census page, spelt correctly. Also lower on the page another Sarah, where the "arah" looks like that in the Solomon S/H arah. I reckon if you look at the Sarah/Hannah Solomon you can see where there is an H overwritten by an S as though Hannah started to be written and then realised it should be Sarah??

Does George Frederick become Abraham and Joseph become Isaac, whilst Eli remains Eli?

Will take a look thank you

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 19 Mar 2017 15:52

the 1861 could be Hanah (not Sarah) looking at the original.

On the original census form look at the other 'S's and the other 'n's- they are very different.

However, the later census does look like Sarah

the other thread has been answered thank you

I am beginning to think that Hannah Maria and Sarah are the same person.

I will explain.
Jane Sims married Joseph Solomon but as Joseph was jewish jane took the jewish name of Rebecca.

On all the census she is jane but on her wedding certificate she is Rebecca.

I am wondering if Hannah Maria took the name of SARAH as her jewish name,

what do you think
