Hi, does anyone have the full membership on Ancestry that could look up a record for
All Immigration & Emigration results for Florence Louisa Poultney born 1898, from the UK to Australia please. I do have a membership but not a worldwide one. There is a record there but I can not view it. Thank you

I just found a record on genesreunited but the person was born 1916 so it might be the same one as Ancestry, which would be the wrong Florence

Thank you to both of you. Kathleen, I made a mistake and changed it but you must of seen it before I changed it. It was Florence Poultney born 1916 that went to Australia on genesreunited records, I think it might of been that one. Thank you also Erika, I have the record from 1921. The last record I have of her was 1939 and then nothing after that so i was looking into see if she emigrated.

If that’s her in 1939, she married no later than Jan 1959 - not that I can see a record of it :-S

♥♥♥Debbie♥♥♥ Report 27 Jul 2022 21:48

Hi, yes that's the one, I know she has the last name crossed out and replaced with Gray but no marriage or deaths in both names. Maybe she changed her name again later on down the line. Bit of a mystery woman.

Have you asked about this woman before? FMP alerts me to having previously accessed some records I just called up

EDITED

Yes you have, at least once

She could have changed her name by deed poll. We looked for years for the marriage of my in-laws without luck and then we found that she had changed her name by deed poll just before the birth of her eldest son. It was reported in the London Gazette

She could have changed her name simply by making a declaration. One can choose to be called by whichever name one wishes as long as there is no intention to deceive or defraud.

The 1975 death cert should include the maiden name of the deceased

♥♥♥Debbie♥♥♥

♥♥♥Debbie♥♥♥ Report 28 Jul 2022 16:21

Thank you, that's the closest I have seen, I will order death certificate and find out. Fingers crossed. Thank you everyone

♥♥♥Debbie♥♥♥

♥♥♥Debbie♥♥♥ Report 21 Aug 2022 16:59

Just a update, I ordered the death certificate for Florence Gray that died 1975 and it came back with no maiden name even though the person that registered her says he was the husband and on her place and date of birth it only says 15th feb 1897 and no place of birth. It says her husband was George Henry Gray living at 46 Mancroft Avenue, Lawrence Weston, Bristol. So I looked up a George Henry Gray in Bristol and found one born 1900. He married a Lucy Williams that died 1956. So its possible that maybe Florence got with him after. George and Lucy at one stage lived in Thornbury Gloucestershire and i found a Florence L Poultney Living in the same area in 1946 so it's possible it could be the same one. If it is my Florence, is it possible he lied about being married to her, also why no place of birth or no maiden name.

ErikaH Report 21 Aug 2022 17:54

Unfortunately, only the person who registered the death would be able to answer that.

However, taken in conjunction with 1939 info, it would seem highly likely that it’s the woman being researched, and that he was misinformed about her year of birth, but had the right day and month.
The update on 1939 was recorded 15 Jan 1959, which would fit the timescale
