If so, it's quite a common name - but even if the name is Coutts, there's no death in 1989 in England, Scotland, or Wales for an Elizabeth Coutts born in 1901.

Is Colutts (or whatever it is) her maiden name or married name?

There are four births of girls named Elizabeth Coutts in 1901 in Scotland, but none in England or Wales.

One of the OP's grandfathers was Robert Gibb born 1880 in Glasgow, and his wife was Margaret McColl

Both died in South Africa
