Re 1911 -

Margaret may be a mistranscription.
It may be that the transcriber mis-read "Mary" as "Marg" or Margt".

Or the enumerator got confused with the mother's name being Margaret.


EDIT:
Have just had a look - curiosity got the better of me.

The daughter Margaret is clearly written as Margaret, so it's probably a mistake by the enumerator.

It's definitely the right family, as there's also a boarder with them:
Catherine McAlpine, 18, single, factory worker at explosives works, born in Linlithgow.

This is Catherine's birth, which makes her a sister of Margaret/Maggie, Joseph's wife.:

The father Joseph McMeechan is a railway engine driver, born in Linlithgow.
In fact, the whole household is said to be born in Linlithgow.
Their address in 1911 is 14 West Port, Linlithgow
