Find Ancestors

Try as I might I cannot find the death of George Henry Bowles. He was born 1910 in Biggleswade and the last place I can find him is in 1948, he is a postal worker in Maidstone. There is one death in Maidstone but the ages don't quite match so I am not sure it is definitely him.

Is he an open record on the 1939 Register?

George Q1 Maidstone 1969 - age 81 so again well out and no second initial

George Q4 Maidstone was born 1922 and is George Edward

Was he married - if so what was her name and age

Do you know his actual DOB? Deaths post mid 1970's give DOB

Dob 6/11/1910. as per 1939 register, if I have the right man

The wife died in 1999, in DORSET

A possibility? A Q4 birth reg. could have him born anytime from mid August to end of December. The year is one out but an easy mistake

EDIT - not now we know he was 4 months old at the time of the 1911 census

I couldn't find him on 1939 Erica.He was supposidly in London with the GPO in 1938. On 1911 census he was 4 months old. I couldn't find a marriage for him either. I have looked on Ancestry, FMP and Freebmd

So this isn't him?

10 years 7 months, which fits a November birth, as the 1921 census date was 19th JUNE

There is a closed record on the 1939 for the family...........presumably Leslie

1911 census was taken Sunday 2 April so if 4 months old likely born November 1910 to very early December.

ErikaH's find would "fit".

There is only one other birth of a George H Bowles 1909 - 1911 and that is Q4 1909 Nottingham

GPO was a Civil Service job at that point in time

He was definitely born in Biggleswade Greyghost.

That would be Leslie as he was born in 1921. Erica

Potters Bar handled and sorted most of UK mail and parcels in many years gone by.

Yes, I posted the birth in Biggleswade. Until you told us his age was 4m in 1911, the 1998 death could have been a possibility, (ages often a year out) but with the Nottingham birth that more or less proved it couldn't be yours.

That marriage sound very possible as he was with the GPO in Hitchin.
That may well be him on the 1939 at Potters Bar then Erica
