The marriage in 1897 was between Joseph Hodgin and Lily Wilson Sweeting
All a little odd

Graham

Graham Report 22 Dec 2023 16:06

Lily's father was entered onn the marriage certificate as William Wilson Sweeting an Engine Driver

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 22 Dec 2023 16:26

Is Sarah (Lily's mother) perhaps with a different partner in 1921??

The father is named William Wilson in 1911, but George Sweeton in 1921.

I don't see a marriage, but she and Lily may have taken his name.

EDIT:
On second thoughts - no.
Lily had already added Sweeton/Sweeting to her name by 1897.
