I'm a bit of a slow worker.

The 1936 newspaper report address would go with this 1921 census when he is recorded as with his grandparents. It also shows his uncle Frederick with whom he's living in 1939

Maybe I have not been able to find anything due to looking under the name of Ivor rather than Ivan.

everyone always called him Ivor when he was spoken about within the family, even they could not get it right :-(

Not necessarily changing. Have you looked at the images? Could be bad writing

IVAN is the name he was given at birth, and in which his marriage and death are listed

The 1939 Register is the record which has the wrong birth year for him ..NOT his death.

Also why would his name keep changing from Ivor to Ivan.
Just curious really.

Oh he sounded like a real character ??

I am on Find my past and not been able to find a death for him, how did you locate the information?
Am I doing something wrong ??

Express and Echo, Exeter, Devon Wednesday 25 July 1956

Motorist fined. Car had inefficient brakes.

Ivan James Ebdon, 51, Oxford road Exeter was fined a total of £8 at Exeter Magistrates court today for using a car with inefficient brakes and on which a door and wing were in such cindition that danger was likely to have been caused to persons.
Ebdon pleaded guilty to driving with an inefficient braking system, and not guilty to the second summons.
P.C. Jack Veevers said that all the spokes in the wheel were loose and that the wheel could be rocked on the hub for an inch.
The car, a 1932 model, was decscroibed by Mr A.J. McGAhey, defending as a vehicle "few go us would be seen driving"

Motor Cyclist Fined
Henry Thomas Stone of 57 Bartonhill road, Torquay, was fined 6s at torquay Police court on Thursday for carrying a person on a motor cycle other than on a proper seat on September 6th in Castle Circus.
Ivor Ebdon of 33 Summerlands Street, Exeter, was fined 6s, for permitting himself to be carried in this manner.
Stone said he was only doing Ebdon a good turn.
