Hi, I bought a photo at a collectors fair and am trying to work out who the family is and then I would contact any decendant who had an online tree to see if they would like the photo.
The photo is dated, I think 1890's - 1900
It was taken in a studio in Wellington street, Woolwich, which might help narrow down the search
On the back it says Granny and Grandad Brown, Auntie Harriett, Auntie Alice and Auntie Polly.
I assume the Granny and Grandad are the parents of the girls in the photo.
I cannot find a Brown Family with all three girls names in it
The girls look to be aged 4 - 10 years old - youngest being around 4, oldest around 10 (in my opinion)
Any ideas?
Any help would be greatefully received x

Polly is possibly/probably a diminutive of Mary

What's the name of the photographer's studio?
Maybe we can narrow the timespan by when it was in business??
Of course, they might have had the photo taken while on holiday from somewhere else. Not a helpful thought!

Only because they are in Woolwich.........and assuming the photo was taken before Edith was born............anything anyone posts is obviously bound to be speculative

The photographer's name isn't much help after all.
From a Google search, they were in existence from at least 1855 until probably into the 1900's, but I can't find definite dates.
In June 1888 they were advertising in "The Photographic News" for "A young lady of good address for Reception-room duties. Experienced in Spotting and Mounting; must be able to Finish nicely. Preference given to one who can re-touch. Must also be able to attend to books. Send carte of self, reference and experience. Must be thoroughly practical"

Re ErikaH's suggested family of Browns in Woolwich:
Ancestry has Mary's middle initials as A J in 1891.
BROWN, MARY ANN JANE mmn POULTON GRO Reference: 1878 J Quarter in WOOLWICH Volume 01D Page 1087
BROWN, ALICE LOUISA mmn POULTON GRO Reference: 1881 D Quarter in WOOLWICH Volume 01D Page 1159
BROWN, HARRIET EMMA mmn POULTON GRO Reference: 1875 M Quarter in WOOLWICH Volume 01D Page 1041
If that's the right family, the person who wrote on the photo obviously must be a child of one of the girls' siblings - and probably Edith.
BROWN, EDITH FLORENCE WRIGHT mmn POULTON GRO Reference: 1889 M Quarter in WOOLWICH Volume 01D Page 1256
The father Robert Wright Brown died in 1900, and in 1911 the mother Alice was living with unmarried Mary Ann Jane.
Sadly, five sons died in infancy:

Edith married William F Reed in 1911. She died on 9/1/69 , having been living at 5 Meads Road, Durrington, Wilts.
She and William had at least two other children:
Mary Beatrice, born 14/1/1912 Doris Elizabeth Alice, 31/7/1913
Mary Beatrice Reed in the London, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1923 Name Mary Beatrice Reed Baptism Age 1 [ wrong, based on wrong transcription of DOB] Record Type Baptism Birth Date 14 Jan 1911 [1912] Baptism Date 18 Feb 1912 Baptism Place St John, Woolwich, Greenwich, England Father William Francis Reed Mother Edith Florence Wright Reed
Mary Beatrice died unmarried, in Amesbury, on 25//12/1989.
Doris married William E Bramwell in 1933, and died 18/11/1962, having lived at 9 Larkhill Road, Durrington.
They had definitely two, possibly 4 children, born 1933(William John, died 2012), 1934, 1936, and 1939 (Eric, died 2017).
In 1939 Doris was living in Amesbury with 3 closed records. William was presumably away in the forces.
