KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 6 Mar 2007 22:28

Yes Nibs, I was thinking the same thing. There was an awful lot of bigamy about at that time apparently. See Sharleen, I still haven't gone yet.....but I am now. Goodnight everyone. Kath. x

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 22:27

You must not delete its all part of this .. and yes I agree ...coz I cant think how else Katherine would have found out.......Prehaps Thomas was not dead or disappeared!!!!! prehaps he was still there

Joan

Joan Report 6 Mar 2007 22:11

Kath, I agree. I would WANT all of the certificates to prove this theory.

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 6 Mar 2007 22:09

If Sharleen's mum was the only one registered in hospital, I suppose that would probably back up the theory that she was the only one registered by her mum (hense the two maiden names) and the other two probably by their dad (with just the one maiden name). Roll on the 1911 census.......wonder how many of us will still be beavering away then?? Have to go now, to hand over to son (you can't send 30 year old sons to bed Sharleen, LOL.) Kath. x

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 22:07

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 22:06

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 22:05

there is more here coz Kate married Henry she got rid of the name Wolstoncroft, and when Katherines birth was registered mmn is Pogson.........

Joan

Joan Report 6 Mar 2007 22:05

Sharleen. When a baby is born the mothers maiden name is entered on the cert and the registration. Katherine, Evelyn and Diana all had Kate as mum and her maiden name was POGSON.

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 22:03

thats what I think we will do .....so 6th march 2011 at 9pm????please put it in your computer note pads

Joan

Joan Report 6 Mar 2007 22:01

Hi Nibs, was there a war on. ? We could always wait for the 1911 census !

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 22:00

Kate registered her 3 girls names in Williams ....but it was onlt Katherine who put the Wolstoncroft on her marriage certificate when she married Stanley in 1935....... Now as Joan knows Katherine hated her mum(kate) ....coz Kate let her dad die and Katherines dad was Henry, so she tried to change her name to Wolstoncroft.........Probably thinking it was her mums maiden name or out of spite for Kate

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 21:53

is everyone with it ........ My mums birth was registered in hospital BUT my aunties births were registered when they came home......

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 6 Mar 2007 21:48

I can understand that Joan, but only if Sharleen's mum was the only daughter that Katherine registered herself, otherwise you would think that the other two girls would have the two mother's maiden names as well. I think Sharleen needs all three girls birth certificates to see if the father registered the other two...in which case i suspect your theory is right. However if Katherine registered all three births, then there is still a mystery. Kath. x

Joan

Joan Report 6 Mar 2007 21:48

Well kath, I think she had an affection for the name and so Katherine C 'adopted' it as a double barrel name and then passed it down to Jean Sharleen's mum. What does Sharleen and family think of this sequence of events ? What happened to Mr Wolstencroft, as Kate remarried after a year ?

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 21:47

Kate didnt wait long before re-mayying but then waited 2 years to have a child !!!!!!!! Mum says thats the sort of thing her mother would have done

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 6 Mar 2007 21:41

talking to mum................ be back in a mo

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 6 Mar 2007 21:33

Maybe I'm not thinking straight Joan, but that still doesn't seem to explain why Sharleen's mum has Wolstencroft or Williams as mother's maiden name. It seems that all three girls born to Kate Pogson were born after her marriage to Mr. Williams, so none of them should be unsure of their maiden name. Or am I missing something?????? Kath. x
