Wendy Do you have Eva's parent's marriage cert? ~ if so does it say if she was a spinster? And if you got Arthur's marriage cert it should say fathers name and occupation! Zoe

Hi Zoe FERRIER - South Wales Many thanks for looking. Evan Ferrier isn't in the parish records for St Dogmells or Cardigan. Perhaps he was born somewhere else in Wales but I do not know where. I've tried the Welsh Library and they couldn't find birth records for Evan Ferrier. I will keep looking - thank you for your help. Alison

Id like help to find the birth certificate/records of my grandfather. he was Arthur hedley James Vincent born in ?salisbury. His sister, Eva Vincent has parents Winifrred Edith Ballard and Frank Vincent. the family has links with Croydon. His birthday was 10th Jan 1912. Frank and Winifred Vincent married in march 1912 and had Eva 1913. There is also another sister called Trixie Vincent. We have searched the records in the records office and online but can not find any trace of Arthur or trixie. Could they have had different parents??? Frank apparently died in WW1. We know that Arthur died on 25th Feb 1961 in Dartford at age 49. Any help with this mystery will be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Zoe I think you'll find them as Josh & Ellen Evenson or Everson. They're at 117 Broadwall in Christchurch. When you look at the image you'll see that Josh is actually Jos h, short for Joseph Joseph and Eliza E are at 17 Broadwall in 1851. Same street, 100 houses down. I've often wondered if it's the same house after renumbering. Seems a huge coincidence. Alan

Hi Zoe FERRIER - South Wales Evan Ferrier - Master Mariner - Pembrokeshire, Wales My GGgrandfather Evan Ferrier is a bit of a mystery. He was born approx 1822 in Cardigan but cannot find any birth records for him. Do not have any siblings for him or parents although I think his father's name was John Ferrier. His father's name was left off his first marriage certificate (married Anne Davies 25.12.1846 in Cardiff) but was entered as John Ferrier (Pensioner) at the time of his second marriage to Mary Edwards - 5.2.1867, St Dogmells, Pembrokeshire. Have found a John Ferrier, Gentleman who died 24.4.1847 aged 81 Also know of John and Elizabeth Ferrier who, in 1785 were of Cardigan and in 1786 were from Glog, Clydey. In 1795 Elizabeth Ferrier died. They had a son John Ferrier but do not know when he was born. So far have not been able to connect to either of these. There is also a John Best Ferrier born Cardigan 1815 and I have wondered if he is a brother to my Evan but again cannot find a connection. Any help you can offer in trying to connect my Evan Ferrier to the correct Ferrier family would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Alison

Zoe, I haven't found him in any censuses yet, so don't know his occupation. He was one of nine children three of whom I have found on the census but he is not with them. Here are the details of who I have found so far.. Thomas William born 1802 16 Grt New Street Engraver 1841 census lived 19-20 Abermarle Street Clerkenwell Finsbury married Elizabeth (Betsy) 1851 living 72 St johns Steet Finsbury. John William b 1804 16 New Street Square St Brides Jeweller d 1873 married Charlotte Tomlin 1841 living with brother Edward at Regent Street Stepney 1851 living 36 West Street Bethnal Green. Edward 1807 St Brides Brass finisher (Gentleman) 1841 living Regent Street Stepney 1851 living 121 High Street Shadwell married Matilda maria Smith. The other siblings I have not found yet are Charles George b 1796 Grt New Street christened 31 1 1796. Occupation unknown (I am waiting for a death cert which I hope is his Death in west London 1857) Elizabeth b 1798 16 Grt New street st Brides Emma 1809 St Brides Robert Edward 1812 Saint Andrew Holborn Henry Robert 1813 Saint Andrew Holborn and of course George Edward. Because I could not find him on the census it was great to find him on his mothers death cert until I checked the address and he wasn't there. I know he isn't with the siblings I have found but am struggling to trace the others where of course he and his father may have gone to live . Sorry I wasn't able to answer your question but I thought the family detail I have given you may give you a better picture of what I know. Thanks Rachel

I have a very long standing mystery that I have almost given up resolving. I cannot find any trace of birth details for my late husband`s mother. Her name was stated to be BLANCHE EILEEN MITCHELL age 21 in 1913 when she married. She stated her father to be John Mitchell a Sgt Major in the Cameron Highlanders. I have tried all known sources searching for her birth, but without success. Also have been unable to trace her father as having been in the Cameron Highlanders. Should anyone solve this mystery, they will have my undying thanks and appreciation. My son is desperate to know just who his paternal grandmother was and learn about her family.

John The spelling error is nothing much to worry about if all else fits..I have had various weird spellings of names in my tree on census! Lots of people couldn't read or write so someone else wrote it and spelt it how they thought it should be!~that's why ther are many spelling errors with peoples ancestors! I will check over the next few days to see if there is a Frederck Read of that birth place and year in previous censuses.. It seems too right to be wrong!! Zoe
