Hi Angela I've found the Church anyway.. The records are held at Durham.. The Lyons Parish Church is St Michael and All Angels. Looks like it was created from Hetton le Hole and St Laurence in 1869..It's not a one I have come across before.. Mo There is a John Dawson = Sarah A Kerrison E13 - 132 - Durham Eastern (1891) But I think its Easington Register Office

angie2405 Report 20 May 2006 14:14

Hi Maureen Thank you for the info on the marriages - it is much appreciated I have a baptizmal card that shows: Lyons Parish Church, Co Durham and that Joseph Herbert Dawson was baptized on Sunday September 25th 1898 signed by Rev JR Brown (Rector) Josephs father was called John (thats on Josephs m/cert) and his wife, we think, was called Sarah. I've always been led to believe that Joseph was born in Pittington. Hope the patio is going well ! Regards Angie And that is

Hi Mo. Yes I have ruled the others out. My Edwards year of birth is always 1800 on census rahter than 1797 and 1812 and Martha was a name carried down the generations, thats the only way I have been able to think logically on this one. Hence I think if I have other siblings names this might confirm one way or another but i am pretty certain he is mine. Thanks for looking for me, Nicky

Hi Maureen You were kind enough to do a look up for me on my great grandparents a few weeks ago. May I ask for some more look-ups next time you go to the records office? Margaret Ann Bone [b18/2/1909] married George Steggar on16/04/1936 at Langley Moor. I'm a bit stumped with George so any details from the marriage cert would be appreciated. Joseph Herbert Dawson (my grandfather) born 25/08/1898 [Pittington so I am led to believe], bap 25/09/1898 at Lyons Parish Church,Durham. Am trying to find more information on his mother Many thanks Angie
