Hi Mary, please help me out before I go insane! I'm looking for the 1851 census of PETER THIRLAWAY, born 1831 in Lumley Burn, Durham. I would love to know who his family are. Believe his father is called Peter. And if it's not too much trouble could you please find for me ANN CHERRY, born 1833, in Hatton/Hetton, Durham as well on the 1851 census please? I would so appreciate it! Thank you so much. Kirsten

Hi Mary, Thanks for taking the trouble to look up William Tinkler. I gave you the wrong census date. It was1891 Census for STATION ROAD BOLTON ON DEARNE Yorkshire where WILLIAM is listed with his family and it states Deeping Fen there. He is 'ag lab abt 1846 Deeping Fen, Lincoln England HEAD' In 1871 he will be listed with his wife CHARLOTTE TINKLER (they were married in 1868) They had one daughter then, SUSANNAH TINKLER born 1870 at BAWTRY, near DONCASTER Hope this helps. DON'T MISTAKE HIM for another WILLIAM TINKLER appearing on the 1871 Census. (this one was born 1848 but has a different wife!!) Hope this help you, you wonderful person. Kind regards, Andy

Hi Andy I am a failure!!!! I cannot find your Tinkler folks prior to 1881.I can say for sure they were not in Bawtry as I looked at every page of the 71 census for the place as I thought they may still be there, but nothing, not even a bad entry that could have been mistranscribed. Where on earth can they be? Sorry Regards Mary

Hi Mary. Thank you for the offer. Looking for EMILY VAUS (or Vause), christened 6-Dec-1827, ALBURY, SURREY (parents were William and Mary Vaus; William was a farmer). Emily had 13 siblings, although a couple died young. Wondering if she is on the 1851 and 1861 census. She was in Canada by November 1871 -- would you have time to check the 1871 as well? Thank you very much. May I ask for another search, when you have additional time? Wondering if her sister, Susanna, born early 1829, same place, is on the 1851 census (she was in Canada before 1861). Thank you, Mary.

Hi Mary, Thank you for the offer. I wonder if you could help me? I am searching for the Stephenson family. They lived in Guisborough, Yorks. I would appreciate info from the 1871, 1891 and 1901 census if that is possible. I used to have a copy of the 1861 census (years ago) but cannot find it now. I do however remember some of it, as follows: Address - cannot recall but Guisborough Stephenson John - Snr Head b. Whitby Stephenson Mary Wife Stephenson John Jnr Son b. Whitby Stephenson Elizabeth dau in law Violet Smith dau They had Stephenson grandchildren living with them but I cannot recall how many - could include any of - Sarah b. 1851/2 Guisborough, Jane b. 1854 Guisborough , John b. 1856ish Guisborough and Martha 1858/9 Whitby. I am now eager to trace the family in 1871,1891 and 1901 and would appreciate any information you can give me.

Hi Sal Sorry I cannot confirm James Shaw Jnr as James/Elizabeth's son as I am unable to find them on the 1851 census either as a family or individually. I think you will need to try to find the birth for James Jnr to confirm parentage. I do not envy you that as there are a lot of James Shaws born about 1840 in Oldham and area. Mary

Hi Andy Well found in 61,I had a look and on Ancestry they were transcribed as TINKLAS. However I am not able to pin the b-----rs down on 51.I am so glad they are not my family even though I have grown quite attached to them over the months since I first encountered them. Good luck with your research, who knows we may find them one day. Regards Mary
