Thank you for your help Ellen. I have emailed my sister in The UK. She is going to get Thomas’s death certificate from York Registry. If it is the correct one we might learn something more. I do appreciate all you help. Regards Pat.

Hi Pat As suspected, no sign of Thomas on the 1841. A quick check on Scotlandspeople brings up only one possible birth 1843-1847 in Aberdeen: Samuel Thomas Boner, born 04/09/1846 (or more likely, christened), to Samuel Boner and ? Marsella. GROS data: 168/A0 025* Regards Ellen.

Hi Pat I'll have a look on the 1841 census, but I'm not likley to find him, as both the 1881 census and his death cert are consistent with him having been born c.1845. From his death cert, do you know his parents? This would help in tracking down the family. Regards Ellen.

. Hello again Ellen. Thanks for looking for me. Would you be kind enough to see if you could find him in1842? I have found him living with his wife and children in York in the 1881 British Census, age 36 His Birthplace is given as Aberdeen Scotland. His Death is given as 1889 age 44years But I realise this could be a transcript error from the BMD. Thank you once again. Regards Pat.

HI Ted Don't know if you have this info already, but a bit of a puzzle for you in 1841. Janet and the children were at a place called Martingrett, Troqueer, Kirkcudbright in 1841, but William was not at home. I checked the IGI for children of William and Janet, and this really does look like Janet and the kids to me, as the Isabella is showing on the IGI. So we have at Martingrett: (All noted as born in Kirkcudbrightshire) Mary Milroy, 35, Agriculturist Janet Beattie, 30 James Beattie, 7 Isabella Beattie, 6 Mary Beattie, 4 Robert Beattie, 2 Janet Beattie, 1 Mary Pagan, a Female Servant William Swan, an Ag Lab. Hope this is of some help to you. I'll have an other go later at finding William. Must be working somewhere else. Regards Ellen.

Ellen Report 15 Jul 2006 10:37

Ted Just to tidy up your lot, I don't see young William in 1881, and the girls are probably married, so I think that's it for them. Do you have the family on the 1841? I'll just have a look now for you. Regards Ellen.
