Hello Claire Could you please try to find my rather elusive Ggrandfather by the name of Thomas McDermott b circa 1842 in Ireland From marriage cert - he maried an Amelia Banks at St Anthony's Chapel Liverpool in Oct 1870. Both residing at 7 and 8 Woodstock stret at the time of marriage. I have access to the 1881 census and can find no trace of either of them. Hi Claire I have James in 1901 living at 16 Kingston Street, Notts, with wife Mary, son Martin and daughter Elizabeth (RG13/3170/115 p32). Nottingham Archives gave me his baptism at St Barnabas RC church on 22 May 1853 his date of birth given as 1 May 1853 parents James Brady & Elizabeth (nee Quillon) godmother Margaret Quillon (I will get his birth certificate when I come over to England in September). In the 61 and 71 census he is listed as born in Nottingham also the 1901 census. I have his marriage certificate to Mary Leighton (nee Garrican/Garvacan) in 1898 but can't find any trace of him between 71 and 98. I know Mary was his second wife but don't know who his first wife was. My grandmother Helen Brady was the daughter of James and Mary. Maybe he gave the wrong birthplace on the 81/91 census or maybe he left the country for a few years. Thank you for taking the time to have a look for me. Regards. Chris.

ok Margaret found Elizabeth and Srah living at 50 Swindle Street Ashton under Lyne in 1891. Let me have a look at 1901 Strange i cant find either of them on 1901 wonder what has happened to them I will check to see if there were any deaths registered. Found this in marriages Bowden, Robert 1897 December Marriages Ashton under Lyne Cheshire Lancashire Kemp, Elizabeth Ann 1897 December Marriages Ashton under Lyne Cheshire Lancashire Platt, Alice Ann 1897 December Marriages Ashton under Lyne Cheshire Lancashire RICHARDSON, Arthur 1897 December Marriages Ashton under Lyne Cheshire Lancashire I looked for an Elizabther Bowden in 1901 and found absolutely nothing but i did find an Elizabeth Ann Richardson born 1881c Oldham, Lancashire as a servant to the Nuttall family so that is a big possibility it is her. Ok now i will check deaths I cant find a death for either of them. So looks like Sarah has disappeared!! what do you think? xx

Hello Claire, I haven't had much luck trying to find Annie Maria Richardson DOB 1860 Richmond,Surrey in the 1891 census, (on the 1881 she was down as Maria her middle name.) I have her with her family 1861-1881. Missing on 1891 then in 1901 she is married I have her with her husband in Richmond. Chances are she is in Richmond working as a domestic servant. She had her daughter Mildred Florence Richardson in 1890 in Brentford she was living at 1 Tolson Road,Brentford at that time. But mysteriously Mildred Florence was living as a boarder aged 4 months in 1891at 3 Holy Trinity Cottages,Richmond,Surrey, no sign of Annie Maria!!! I'm sure she can't be too far away. Hope you can help. Best wishes Jenny

Hi Claire Could you please look for James Brady Jnr in the 1891 census. I have him in 1871 living at 18 Chapel Road, St Mary's, Nottingham. The household were:- James Brady 52 Labourer born Ireland Elizabeth Brady 48 wife born Ireland James Brady 17 Bricklayers Labourer born Nottingham Mary Brady 11 Cotton Winder born Nottingham. James Brady Snr died in 1878 and Elizabeth Brady was living with her daughter Mary Burton (nee Brady) at 15 Patriot Street, Nottingham in 1881 (she died in 1883). So far I can't find James Jnr in 1881. To complicate matters there is a James Brady s/o William and Mary born Sept 1851, Nottingham whereas my James Brady was born May 1853, Nottingham, s/o James and Elizabeth, both were baptised at St Barnabas R C Church, Notts and in 1861 the two families were living next door to one another so I believe they are related. Of course I have found this other James Brady in 1881 living with his brother William. My James Brady married Mary Leighton in 1898 at Nottingham RO but he was a widower so he could have been married to someone else in 1881/1891. I know it is very complicated but anything you may find would be greatly appreciated. Regards. Chris.
